jburlowski
The recent discussion here prompted me to pick up a bottle of Wathens SB, which I haven't had in quite a while.
gothbat
Just picked up some PVW15 and some ORVW10 90 for the bunker. I'm sure the ORVW will be opened long before the other as it is the only VW product on my shelf that I haven't had before. I was begining to think that the store I got them from only ever restocked their PVW20.
HighTower
Just found a store with a healthy stash of 90 proof Bulleit.....so I had to grab one. It's a hell of a lot better that the 80 proof stuff they bring in from the UK.Scott
HighTower
On Thursday, my last day at work, I picked up a couple of dusty bottles I had stashed. One was a Lincoln Henderson Woodford Reserve and the other was a very dusty Litre of 86 proof Jack Daniels. Scott
full_proof
I picked up my first bottle of Bookers. Having tried WTRB and 101, which, I've gathered from my reading, are the more intense drams, and which I have thoroughly enjoyed. As for the Bookers, the smoke was definitely there, but the intensity and smoke masked the flavors I've enjoyed with MM, EC, WR, Blanton's & KC. The intensity was so overwhelming I could not sense the wood and vanilla flavors common with a quality bourbons. Perhaps in a few weeks I will try Bookers again, cut with filtered water, but this fledgling bourbon drinker does not see what all the fuss is about. FlashPuppy
Dickel 12, never had this before.Ahh. The Flinstones whiskey. I read on here once about the vitaminy/Flinstonesy/fruity smell, and after I went smelled it I just can't get it out of my head.
tachyonshuggy
Business trip to Dallas. . .I always try to stop by Spirits in southeastern downtown:1 x Buffalo Trace 1.75 (can't get it here in Austin)1 x Dickel #12 1.75 (they sell it for $27.99; Flintstones here I come!)3 x Ezra Brooks 7 year 101 750 mL (another that I can't seem to find in Austin, and at $12 a pop it's probably one of the best values I've seen anywhere).and one bottle each of Regan's and Peychauds. For some reason I've never been able to find anything but good ol' Angostura in Austin and so I'm eager to try these for Manhattans.Passed on:Louisville Weller Antique 107: plenty of it bunkered and they had a full shelfEagle Rare 101 LA bottling: my own bottle is fairly full since I've decided that I mostly don't care for the "mustiness" that ER hasCharter Special Reserve (?). . .never heard of this, but at $25 for a 750 of undated blended whiskey it seemed absurd to meEzra Brooks 12: like I said I love the 7 year. . .is this worth the $27?WT RR 101: This one hurt as a really enjoyed the bottle that I had several months ago, but for some reason I couldn't justify buying it will all the other stuff in the cart (And a half-full 1.75 of WT 101 at home).-Jeff

T47
Went to the store to replace my WT 101 and picked up a bottle of JTS Brown. Never tried this one before but something new to try that does not cost an arm and a leg...and since my garage roof is leaking I am affraid my Bourbon money is going to be taking a hit soon... full_proof
Sprang for my first bottle of Bulleit, which has not won many rave reviews, but :shithappens: so I went ahead and bought it. Although my birthday is tomorrow so it's a gift to myself.Old Forrester - never tried it but at $10.99 it's worth a shot.Wild Turkey Rare Breed - $25.99 always a good choice, I like all the Turkey offerings.Old Grand Dad BIB - $13.99 and worth every penny.Evan Williams - another brand I've never tried before. $7.49 for a 750 ml. Always figured it must be awefull because of the low price. I'll try it tommorow night while watching the Patriots walk all over the Colts. Then I strayed off the path a little and got,Powers Gold Irish Whiskey - $19.99Black Bush $28.99 - another bottle worth every penny.Speyside Single Malt $19.98 - great deal, was on sale for 10 bucks off regular price.Passed on the Pappy Van Winkle 23YO. T47
Hey I enjoy Bulleit. I don't think its got bad flavor, high rye I think, which I tend to enjoy. I think that it is a unique looking bottle that looks good on the shelf. In WA it goes for $24.95, for that price there are other bottles I enjoy more like WT 101 $19.95, but I don't find it as bad as some here do. melting
Ok, not to go off topic, but the Pats have the Colt's number. It's just the way it is. You'll just have to deal with it. Kind of like us Red Sox fans have to deal with the Yankees beating the hell out of us constantly. :hot:Don't mean to offend anyone but those are the facts. But actually, I'm a big Manning fan. Great competitor and believe it or not he get good press in these parts. Chris
Rancastle
I bought a Lot B Bernhiem today, but think I'll join Dawn in a Pappy 23 toast to the Colts! If Venatieri wins for us, I'll have a little more Pappy tomorrow night.:slappin:

FlashPuppy
In addition to my "Dusty Corner Finds" today, I also replaced my RHF bottle, and picked up two ETL bottles. One is for my soon-to-be-departed bottle, and the other is for a buddy at work who wanted a decent bourbon.
TomH
After getting over my initial disappointment of finding out that my anticipated Antique Collection purchase had not arrived, I did my best to get over it and also expand my limited non-BT/VW cellar by picking up 03/04/06 Birthday bourbons and a Dickel Select. I did manage to find a 06 William Larue Weller and Thomas Handy which will hold to until my expected order arrives <G>.Haven't decided what I'll be drinking tonight in the chat while watching the Colts win tonight.
