mythrenegade
Hmmm,Well, I keep a pretty good wine cellar, so my bourbon collections stays rather small to keep my wife happy. I bought some Stag's Leap SLV, Stuart Cellars Zinfandel, a Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet, and a few other gems and was able to sneak a bottle of Eagle Rare 10yo in the basket. My stash currently is: MM, OPVW 20, EC 18, and now the Eagle Rare. Of those my favorites are the EC 18 and the Eagle Rare. The best thing I purchased was the 2003 Stag's Leap, but I won't get to drink that for at least 10 years, so it's hard to get too excited yet...Joel
bigtoys
was looking for Dickel Barrel Select at Binny's on my way home from a business dinner and I ran into:Eagle Rare 17 year old didn't even know about it.
full_proof
Following these threads has convinced me I need to move, or open a liquor store in LA (Lower Alabama). The selection here is dismal--make that abysmal. But, better days are ahead as this weekend I am GON2FLA, to Destin  .

Whiskey Willie
Latest purchases: WT Russell's Reserve, WT101, and BT...Not sure what to make of the WTRR yet. I have the impression that if I mixed the BT and WT101, I'd get the WTRR. Hey, bourbon math...BT + WT101 = WTRR.

What am I going to do with you?! If you knew Kahn's had them, why didn't you pick them up? Between you with the 12, and Troyce passing on the Tribute, this is getting emabarrassing!! :stickpoke: I'll be in Indy in a few weeks. luv2hunt
Ya.....my address! I'll send you directions! BTW.....I plucked 6 of the 12 bottles they had. Then I sent a message to a couple other guys here to go grab the rest. Tell me what you're looking for Joe and I'll send you to the right store There's still a bunch of RR101 on a store shelf here If you want the Antiques....I haven't looked yet, but can tell you where the usual finds can be made (Beware of price hijacking here in IN....they'd be cheaper in KY) Dawn
dgonano
Picked up some Rittehouse 21 and Woodford four grain from LeNells in Brooklyn.Talked to Chris Morris about the 4 grain. He mentioned that the current bottling ( batch 2 ) is the final batch of such whiskey. This year's bottling is from the remainder of the original barrels...just one more year in the barrel. He believes the extra year creates a much better product. CrispyCritter
My wallet took a major hit today - I took a swing by the closest Binny's, and headed straight for the bourbon aisle, hoping beyond hope that the BTAC didn't pass the store by.Hmm. No Saz 18, no Thomas H. Handy, just ER17, Stagg, and Larue. :skep:Then I looked closer, and noticed that these were '06 bottles. :woohoo: Meanwhile, a store employee walked over and asked me if I found what I was looking for. "Well, almost..." I asked about Sazerac and Handy - and he went in back - and a miracle occurred. As it turned out, they hadn't yet put the bottles out on the shelf.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:For the first time ever, I have a complete BTAC - I bought one of each bottle. My wallet hurts. :bigeyes:Since I just opened my irreplaceable Hirsch 16 gold wax tonight, I'm going to wait a bit before opening any of my new acquisitions - but I'm looking forward to it! smokinjoe
Went on a little business trip this week, and came home with a pretty nice pile: 2 '06 Staggs, 2 Handys, and 1 each of the '06 WLW, Saz, and ER17. Also, a RR101, 1 older bottling of Yellowstone, 1 EWSB 94 (a personal favorite), 2 Old Charter 7 yr. Bottled in Bond, and 1 weird American Biker (whatever that is, but couldn't pass it up)The coolest part of the trip was as I was checking out the bourbon selection in a liquor store in a small Tennessee town, I see someone checking out the bourbon, and he picks up an Eagle Rare 101. I think to myself, crap, I'm too late. He probably doesn't even know what he has, and I'd really like to snag that one. As he's checking out, I overhear his conversation with the clerk, and I realize he definately knows what he's taking about. So, I say, "you must be a SB.comer". "Why, yes" is his reply. "Plaidford from Kansas City." I introduce myself "Smokinjoe from Atlanta". We have a short conversation about our finds in the Volunteer State, while the owners of the store look at each other with this WTF? look on their faces. Again, Plaidford, good to meet you, and another reason why Straightbourbon.com is so COOL!:toast:JOE

Pappy's Friend
Today, my wife and I went into a liquor store I have passed, but dismissed due to its location. I was pleasantly surprised at their bourbon selection - much better than I've seen in Northern California in a while. The store had two bottles of William Larue Weller! Now, they only have one. I was pleased as punch to score!

My wallet just winced, though...Yeah I hear that, I haven't bought hardly any but today I did order 2 Handy's, 1 WLW and 2 Saz Jrs. from Binnys. Talked to Brett on the phone and as everyone else has said he is incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable! Can't wait till they arrive!Something I didn't buy but saw on the way home from a get together with some (men) coworkers at Hooters was a WT12. It was a split label in a tube which I thought only the gold foils came in but apparently not. It's on the map and after the new year rolls around and I get down spending a load of dough on many other things I'll go get it to add to the bunker...
