upstate
I found a mini of Bulleit this week and was curious. Whats with the price of this bourbon, its not offensive, but I do not understand the nearly $30 for 750ml bottles that I normally see it at. Just marketing? If its that much it must be good? I dont get it! At my liquor stores it costs Almost $10 more than EC12 and OGD.
cowdery
Bulleit in most places is $20 to $30 a bottle. It's certainly not the most expensive bourbon on the market, nor the cheapest, but I like that price segment and believe that's a good price for a high quality standard bourbon, which Bulleit is. Woodford Reserve and Knob Creek are its principal competitors in that price segment. You're right, of course, that EC12, OGD and some other good bourbons (e.g., Jim Beam Black) are less expensive. OGD, in fact, is a good alternative to Bulleit, since both are high-rye bourbons.
