I'm not sure if your question can be answered definitively. In theory, at least, once whiskey is bourbon, doing something additional to it shouldn't make it not-bourbon. Jim Beam describes Distiller's Masterpiece as, "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged for 20 years and finished in port wine casks." That is an accurate description of the product and of the process by which it is made. The only thing in the ATF regs that might be relevant is the requirement that something labeled "bourbon" (or any other defined type) must "possesses the taste, aroma, and characteristics generally attributed to" that type. The laws are primarily concerned with preventing misrepresentation. In other words, no harm, no foul.
