Yeah... 12 yr very old Fitz... I cannot afford the $600 jobies...

Nice! I haven't tried but have heard good things. For whatever the reason, I was thinking you're were talking about the Prime or BIB.

W L Weller 12yo, wheaters seem to be extra good in cold weather.

Indeed! I just saw this bourbon in TN for $19 and when I got back I saw it in Boston for $40! Outrageous! Should have bought a case!

Staying warm on the inside with some Four Roses Single Barrel while freezing outside watching the final phase of the lunar eclipse. Ma Nature, cool stuff.

Havana Club Anejo. A stylish, quality rum, not too old, not too young with a sweet-yet-dry citric taste of some complexity and a glycerine-like smoothness.

I'm going to start the night with Shmaltz Brewing's Lenny's Bittersweet R.I.P.A. (Rye India Pale Ale). We'll see where this 10% ABV wonder will lead me. Probably into the OGD100 Bib!

EC12 neat. This one earned a spot in my cabinet.

I'm getting an itching to buy a bottle of this stuff.

PVW 15, ORVW 10/107. Rinse and repeat.

Earlier, a little FR1B sent up from NY by a buddy today! He also sent a FRSmB (I hope this is the agreed nomenclature) that I might open in awhile. I love this guy! Right now it's a Dalwhinnie 15. Nice, polite but rich SMS. A good one to end an evening on, but my evening's not over by a long shot.

Cheers!

PS- hope you're all digging the lunar eclipse as I am!

I just remembered that today is the 20th of Feb! In memory of the Good Doctor's (un)timely demise, I'm going to kill off my last 2006a vintage Gonzo Imperial Porter by Flying Dog Brewery and chase it with some OGD 100. Doctor Thompson, you are sorely missed and deeply cursed!

Got home from my second job tonight, and decided I wanted wine, not bourbon. But, it's often foolish for me to open a new bottle until I have definite plans for finishing it (like a roast or steak thawing in the refrigerator that I know I'm going to cook within a day or two). I'll enjoy or glass or two, then wind up cooking with the rest of it because I let it sit too long.

Anyway, I found the last third of a bottle of 1996 Banyuls (M. Chapoutier, vin doux naturel) in the corner of the 'fridge -- I don't remember when I opened it, but I'd guess at least six months ago. Figured "what the heck, sweet, dessert wines have long lives" -- and, it's not bad at all!

The color has browned, toward that of a tawny port, but the sweetness remains, without much balancing acidity (maybe I should have left it ANOTHER six months:skep: ). I quite enjoyably finished the bottle with some cheese.

Last night was Weller Antique 107, Wild Turkey Rye 101, and Powers Gold Label while I rocked my daughter to sleep. She's one week old today :)

Earlier this evening I had a HUGE pour of Coal Ila 18 in a large red wine glass. My boss was the one doing the pouring... Who was I to refuse?

Gonna take the rest of the night off after that.

Shouldn't we be drinking Wild Turkey in his honor? Although not his variety of choice, perhaps I'll have a swig of American Spirit later.

ORVW 10/107. A good drink. Anyone know if Weller Special Reserve, ORVW 10/107, and Weller Antique all come out of the same Barrels but just aged different? They sure have a similiar taste to me.

Well, they're all wheated bourbon coming from the same distillery. But, that deosn't mean they're the same. They very well could be, but I would tend to think that VW and Weller would have different yeast strains with slightly different mash bills.

Rye a la Wild Turkey.

Loaded up a tall collins glass with lots of crushed ice and poured in that Rye Bird,... nice way to start the weekend.
