Light load today, back home super early, very very cold out, so why not be decadent even if it is Tuesday, I am sipping a Pappy 20.

Oscar, do you feel a little loopy after all that?

Loopy?

No way,...

Just ready to consider the next pour.

Any suggestions anyone?

Well, you started with wheated bourbon then moved to ryed bourbon with OGD 114. I'd suggest continuing that trend with a pour of OGD BIB. If not on hand, then I'd suggest moving into some WT's such at WTT, KS, or RB.

You know it is funny that you suggest that, because before I started on this ride I wanted to double-check what I had on hand and I had no WT101, with or without age statement.

(well actually I have some 8yo export bunkered),

But no rocks bourbons as the kids say, "In da house",...

yeah that was lame.

Made dinner for the family and decided to make me a whiskey sour using some ETL while cooking.

Later on, a healthy pour of Eagle Rare 10/101 (mid 80's). I really love this stuff. Wish they still made it. Oh well, I'll just have to nurse what I have.

Mark, of the lot which do you like the best, sans the Lot B (since I know you love it)?

Worked the equivalent of a week over the weekend. Have the rest of the week of the week off. Will try to hit the Chicago Auto Show one day.

For tonight, it's decompressing with some 4R 1B for a nightcap. Should help me sleep.

Noticed the bottle's about half empty (half full, too, I know). Going kind of fast for me, but I'm having everyone I can try it. Comforting to know there's 2 more bottles in the bunker.

WT RB with just a drop of Fee Brothers Orange Bitters. I may switch to Baby Saz. and experiment with these Fee Bros. bitters in an Old Fashioned.

Well I took the last pour out of my Blue Wax A.H. Hirsch 16 tonight! This stuff is unbelievable! It's honey sweet with a light bite of spice caramel apple and leather. The oak is faint but the linger of tobacco is in the finish!

Oh the layers please let me count the ways!!

I just completed my first Lacrosse practice of the season...21 5th and 6th graders...my reward, I opened up my first Saz Jr.

Always willing to give a nod to marketing, I like the bottle. Right up there with Bulleit, it just looks like a Whiskey bottle ought to look to me.

(Im looking at the tasting notes, trying to find the words to match my sensations-because I am a blockhead!) The nose is floral, maybe herbal.

I can taste the Rye, but not as strong as I would have expected for a Rye Whiskey if that makes sense, I think I notice the Rye more in OGD 114? I pick up hints of mint and leather and rootbeer? (that does not sound good, but I DO like this). The finish is spicey, almost a carbonated burn feel in my mouth.

This one will require more testing, but I enjoy it. In the end a pleasing use of $25, I have one bunkered as well.

:toast:

I too found it to be a little lighter than expected. I will give it a few more tastes before commenting further, but the flavor seems more subtle than I was expecting.

I'm telling you, the Saz Jr. bottle should be the bottle used for all future BTAC releases. I don't even like Rye (not right now, anyway) but I may well buy the baby Saz just for the bottle.

Rock Hill Farms... very, very smooth - good stuff

Really? Smooth is not something I associate with Rock Hill Farms. I find it very spicy - both from the rye and the alcohol. Now, I'm not really looking for my whiskey to be smooth, so maybe it is also smooth and I'm not noticing it, but I always thought of smooth and spicy as being in tension with each other...am I confused?

This evening for me it was Bowmore 12 and then Aberlour 10.

Saz Jr., a trophy from my trip down south last week. This is just such a smooth, tasty, drinkable, whiskey, that I wonder why it is such an anomoly. For roughly $20 bucks, this is a world class pour.
