Any body up to a BBQ here at my place during Bourbon Festival 2002? I just finished the pit and the honor and priviledge would be mine to have any of you over at that time. Linn PMed me about this and I had thought something along those lines but have been busy , but there you have it. I have several bags of Kingsford and we can stoke her up and anyone wanting to show their talent for burning cow or hogs ass can go at it!

Sounds like a good time to me Bobby! We could all just pop by the grocery store and pick up whatever it is we want to eat. It's a good way to eat well and save a few $$$$$$$. Since they are having a wedding reception at the General Nelson on Friday night I think that would be fine time to have it. Thanks for your kind offer Bobby!

Thank you Bobby for the tremendous hospitality. Are you near Bardstown?

Yes about 15 miles. The gazebo at General Nelson will be used for a wedding Friday nite so the festivities could be over here. I'll have to figure out how to proceed , but I can furnish a few staple items Like Baked beans and potatoes etc I will have all the condiments here as well ,Tabasco, A1 , 57 Ketchup, Mustard,Sour Cream, Butter ,whatever. I've got the Kingsford , Like Linn said everyone can bring their own meat and the grill will be open . I will have Bourbon soaked Mesquite , Maple and Hickory Chips here. It will be fun , looking forward to it!

I did the Father's day cookout today and kept cracking up thinking about having you guys over. Finally I had some knob creek over ice and was sitting out there looking at a huge rock my nieghbor had to place with his backhoe( me little tractor didn't have enough ass) . Hope no one falls on it that would hurt , ( It would do no harm to the rock, ouch!)

I will try to make plans to attend.....I just love cook outs........

Our cook out at Heaven Hill -----that you did not attend ....instead you worked in your yard.......netted $3255.00 for the American Heart Association... this includes the raffles that we did and a lot of "other" stuff that brought in real good money........don't ask............cause I ain't gonna tell ya!

We did the actual walk Saturday morning. Parker and Linda Beam were with us.....so was Paul Civils.....Chuck Cowdery wrote about him in his last issue of the Bourbon Country Reader....He used to be the big cheese in goverment men a long time ago......He is a trip....walked 5 miles and is 80 years old.....a true Sugah! We took pictures......I will post one of all of us together......

I caught Parker and Linda before they left and asked him, Linda and Craig to come to the booth after the barrel rolling contest and meet the people that are members of Straightbourbon.....Well hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said No... can't do it....My daughter is gettin married that day!!!!! That's why everthing is so booked in Bardstown.....Parker daughter is gettin married and everbody and his brother is gonna be there.....I asked could we try for Friday and he said would work on it......told me to get back with him or Linda..........I will.....

I got to meet Koji from this forum.... He has been doin some trackin around here.... He speaks very good English....thank god...It hurt.... to think about trying to do a tour when they don't have a clue as to what you are sayin......He owns a bar in Japan....his websight is---www.salscafe.com----this box will pop up telling you to download for the japan writing..... He was younger than I expected...I asked him how old he was, he said he was 35...... I asked why he was here in Kentucky... He said he was starting a magazine in Japan..... There are no Whiskey Magazine's in Japan.... He took a lot of pictures..... the name of is might be the American Whiskey Magazine.......I said American Bourbon Magazine and he made it very clear that it will be whiskey not Bourbon.........

We took him to warehouse Y....that's where the milestone barrels are stored.... the first million barrel is there..... barreled in 1969.....33 years old.......I could kick myself for not knocking on it to see how much was in it....... I will do it next time..... Heaven Hill will reach their 4,500,000 barrel of bourbon sometime in January......

I'm done

BettyJo is there any of the old breed of warehousemen left at HH ? Find that guy !!! You know the guy with the "MULE" in his pocket. Pull a little of that 33 for the cookout. I was told once that there was a barrell on every floor in every warehouse with a loose bung and the guys working there could tell you where it's at. How do you think they found those Fitzgeralds? The angels are getting a little help!! A buddy of mine's Dad was warehouseman at Beam he said way back when a foreman caught one of em with a hose in a barrell and took him to the office and had him fired, the whole time the foreman doing the firing had a mule in his pocket too!!!!!!!

Hi Bob,

What a cool thing. I'm not sure I can make the cookout (think we'll be cooking on Saturday) but, I'd be happy to drop you aliddle barrel char to throw on that grill. Think I've got some kickin around here... smirk.gif

It'll be real nice on straight charcoal. I think mesquite might overpower it some.

Brenda, That would be great , the barrel char will be put to good use! grin.giftongue.gif Friday is the nite for the cookout , so if you can stand it 2 nites in a row! I did a modification on my grill Tuesday nite . I had it choked down too much and the smoke chamber wasn't big enough it would blow back in your face a bit. Took a Hilti AT905 to it , removed the flue liner and about 6 inches all the way around . I burned some newspaper in it it seems to be fine .Looking forward to Sept.

Well Kiddo's it won't be long now! I set my rock picnic table tops on today. They are 2 huge slabs of rock about 1 to 3 inches thick , together they are 10 feet long. It goes from 4 feet wide on 1 end down to 2 feet on the other. for now we will use resin chairs but later I will put either slabs or benches out of wood around it.I have bleahed them out with a gallon of bleach and I think I will see if they can hold up to a hamburger or brat tomorrow.

Rock slabs for tables! Verrrrrrry cool cool.gif 10 feet ought to be long enough to hold all of the bourbon. Now I'm both hungry and thirsty! grin.gif

As my father's favorite mason-by-default, and knowing how much fun it is to manhandle really large stones, congrats on getting those slabs safely where you wanted 'em. How did the bleach work for ya?

I set them on with the loader on the tractor. one of the stones Me and my 6' 3" son together could not raise the corner of. They had a little moss and crud on them the bleach took most of it off and leaves a nice white color. I don't want to over do that because they are a nice shade of grey.

Good one BettyJo! I'm getting my wife who works at rite aid to bring home some Bourbon Boxes. I am going to cut them up and nail pieces of the boxes with our favorite logos all along the road to my house. I have Beam, Ancient Age , Makers , Early Times , Okay I know it's not Bourbon , I still think of it in the context of Jack Beam . Etc. I will either later PM everyone with the starting point for this or will see you at the L&G, BT tours. Maybe finding Boone at the HH tent will be Plan "B".
