I blog and read a lot of blogs. Doing some research on where folks find conversations about bourbon and whiskey out there. Obviously, SB is a great place, but I was wondering if you know of any good bourbon or whiskey blogs that talk about our favorite beverage as well?

Please know that I'm not here to market or sell, only to have conversations. I work for and with Beam Global across their portfolio of brands, am here as a participant, not an advertiser.

So, any good blogs out there you like?

It's funny, there are a lot of blogs about Scotch, but not as many about Bourbon, that I know of at least.

Of course, there is Chuck's blog: http://chuckcowdery.blogspot.com/

He does lots of interesting pieces on whiskey history as well as getting to the bottom of controversy and questions about current whiskies.

John Hansell from Malt Advocate also has a good blog that covers all whiskies: http://maltadvocate.com/what-does-john-know.asp

For non-Bourbon whiskies, I read the following.

Kevin Erskine's Scotch Blog, covering the industry: http://www.thescotchblog.com/

Dr. Whisky, a British based Canadian who does tastings, mostly Scotch: http://drwhisky.blogspot.com/

Whiskyfun, tastings of very rare Scotches: http://www.whiskyfun.com/

Nonjatta, about Japanese Whiskey: http://nonjatta.blogspot.com/

Wow. Thanks for those. I am aware of a couple of them, but you gave me some good stuff. Thanks!

I've also been reading Accidental Hedonist (http://www.accidentalhedonist.com) lately. Kate Hopkins, the author, is doing a book about whiskey so she's been writing a bit more about it lately. The blog is more about food, recipes and the like, but she is spirits-heavy.

There's also the Whiskey Guild (http://www.whiskeyguild.com I think) that is a new site/magazine I've seen a hard copy of. Good stuff. They cover the range of whiskey's out there.

If you think of more, let me know. I'm a blog geek, so I'm always on the lookout.

A couple of one I like are:

http://explorethepour.blogspot.com/

which I understand is moving to:

http://drinkdogma.com/.

and

http://artofthedrink.blogspot.com/

Both of these sites cover all things alcohol, but have good sections on bourbon. The later is more focused on bar tending and heavily favor Makers Mark. They do have a interesting video of a bourbon tasting class with David Pickerell, Master Distiller of Makers Mark.

Ryan, thank you! That was a very good tasting with Mister David Pickerell. This link would fit nicely in the quality vs. style topic since it speaks not of age but maturity. This point of view makes sense in many ways. Most associate age with quality when in fact they not always go hand in hand.

Kindest,

Geb

Although I don't read blogs I did hear about most of them mentioned on this thread through Mark's podcast.

I must add that he's very thorough in his news and notes, but also heavy toward the Scotch end of the scale.

Had I the time and resources I'd love to do one (podcast) exclusively or more American-leaning...

Wow guys and gals. Thanks for the input and ideas. It's good to know there are too many hidden away ones I hadn't already found, but did get some good leads. Input appreciated.

And in case you were interested, Bill Samuels Jr., now has a blog, but it's inside the Maker's Mark ambassador's program (meaning you have to be an ambassador to see it). I help with it and would love your feedback if you are an ambassador. (If you're not, you can sign up at makersmark.com.)

If you happen upon any others, share them. I love reading different perspectives.
