cowdery
This is for Chicago folks mostly. Someone recently asked me if I knew what happened to Joseph Congiusti (Joe C.), the longtime whiskey buyer at Sam's. I didn't, but now I do. He has joined rival Binny's, a chain of 10 Chicago-area stores, as their spirits specialist. You can reach him at joec@binnys.com.--Chuck Cowdery

My only experience with Binny's is the one out in Naperville... they didhave a lot of whisk/e/y, but they employees (including the manager) wereall rude, idiotic, and thoroughly unpleasant. I vowed that I would neverset foot in that place again.Tim
cowdery
The folks behind Binny's bought out a couple of different stores and small chains to become what they are today. It's possible the management of that store has changed. In the city, they bought Zimmerman's after Max died and bought Gold Standard Chalet on Clark, which they recently remodeled. I believe that's where Joe C. wil be based. It's a nice store, and more convenient for me than Sam's, but neither the prices nor the selection can compare. Sam's is still #1.
