You have $100 to spend on whiskey.....list your purchases with prices and see how close you can get without going over.

I will be doing some virtual and real shopping...will post my list asap.

One bottle of Wild Turkey Tribute. That was a quick and easy way to spend a hundred bucks.

Assuming my house has gone dry...

Elmer T Lee: 28.99

Wild Turkey Rye 21.99

Jim Beam Black 17.99

Old Grand Dad 114 24.99

Might go slightly over depending on the sales tax...

I'd spend it on whiskeys (note it didn't say "bourbon") that I haven't yet tried but would like to.

Bernheim Wheat is available at a store about 40mi from here. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact price. It's somewhere between $40 and $50. I'll assume $50.

Been wanting to try baby Saz. OLCC price is $27.95.

This leaves $22.05. The same store with the Bernheim has Forty Creek Three Grain for $21.95. That leaves ten cents.

Already done it. See: What Bourbon Did You Purchase Today? Spring 2008

Got four 1 liter bottles of Knob Creek and five 750 ml bottles of Jim Beam Black. A friend of mine, who is now managing a bar, was "clearing out" some older stock that wasn't selling. My good fortune for a change. Won't have to be buying much for a while. Joe

Pappy 15 @ $48

Lot B @ $40.99

Old Fitzgerald Prime 80 $10.99

That leaves me 2 cents if I want to give someone my opinion on them :grin:

I'm a little over but I won't be paying tax on post.:drinking:

Rittenhouse BIB (x2) $26.98

Weller Antique 107 $19.49

VWFRR $39.99

After tax that leaves me with $7.49, a little more than enough for a pack of smokes.

Using Binny's website as a price guide but applying a 7% percent sales tax, which is typical for this area, I get:

one bottle of Baby Saz @ 24.06 (on sale right now)

one bottle of Weller Antique @ 20.32

one bottle of WTRB @ 38.51

one bottle of Virgina Lightning @ 17.11 ( I was surprised to see this on their web site)

That's a hundred bucks.

Going off of Binny's prices I would get...

Wild Turkey Rare Breed $35.99

Pappy Van Winkle 15 yo $44.99

Four Roses $17.99

Thats just under a hundred bucks, a little over if you count taxes.

using Binny's website and my short list of things I'd like to try:

* Weller 12yr

* Sazerac Straight Rye

* Four Roses Small Batch

-------------

$93.36 - including shipping

That would easily purchase 8 bottles of Barton's Kentucky Tavern 1.75's to help fill the barrel.

Just going by my local prices, assuming the cupboard is bare and you're talking strictly American whiskey:

Elijah Craig 12yo - $19.79

Old Weller 107 - $19.99

Wild Turkey Rye - $19.99

Four Roses yellow label - $19.99

Fighting Cock - $12.99

Total: $99.24 after 7% tax.

Not necessarily the best whiskeys, but give several fairly distinct flavor profiles for the money you wished to spend. Obviously, if we're talking just getting some new stuff, the list would be quite different.
