ebo
In Ontario it is $45, which puts it in the same bracket as Glenfiddich 12, Bowmore 12, Glenlivet 12, and a few others. You generally don't get single malts for less than that around here. It's definitely better than the Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and the Bowmore. I pay $40.00 for it in Ohio. unclebunk
Here in TX it's down to about $30, which makes it a steal. Not as good as the review makes it out to be - it's decent, kind of like a peatier Highland Park 12, but not as rich & fullfilling. If it's priced under $40 it's a good deal. As you creep higher, I'd be more reluctant to buy another one. It's good, though, just not great.Ardmore is perhaps my favorite "budget" malt and it's an absolute bargain at $30 here in Chicago. In fact, I once found a place that marked it down to $20 (!) because the store owner's customers weren't familiar with it and it just sat there collecting dust. I came home with three! It's definitely better than the Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and the Bowmore. I pay $40.00 for it in Ohio. Those others are fine whiskies in their own right but I too would go with Ardmore, given the choice. Pick one up, Mike. You won't be disappointed. The two Glens offer nothing to me, and the entry Bowmores leave me flat.
wine65
Springbank 19 1/2 ( vatted an 18 with a heavily sherried 21 year). Hits the spot!!!
unclebunk
Laphroaig 10 last night. Always an explosion of flavor and aroma in every pour--a true classic!
Megawatt
Springbank 12 year old cask strength, on ice. Wow, this is some challenging stuff. The ice brings out the peat and takes the sweetness down a notch. The finish is dank and pungent. Very nice whisky if you can get past the funky finish. RegChumpington
Nearly putting a Duncan Taylor ROR 31yo bottling of Banff to bed. I've really enjoyed this bottle - it's not challenging or particularly nuanced but it's just a really enjoyable pour.

rmallen
Having the last couple drams of Bowmore Dusk Bordeaux Wine Cask Finish. I don't think Bowmore offers it anymore which is a real shame. I've really enjoyed this whisky.

Megawatt
Tangle Ridge Canadian, 10 year, Double Casked. How do you like Tangle Ridge? I've heard both good and (very) bad about it. I'm also enjoying a double-matured Canadian: CC Sherry Cask. This stuff is incredible, though it hardly tastes like whisky.

But what's your take on CC Sherry?
Megawatt
Mega, I've had my eye on a bottle of the CC Sherry: there are a number of bottles for about 25 in a place that I've cleaned out of 70's Old Forester, so my guess is the CC bottles are also pretty old. But what's your take on CC Sherry?I love it. It impressed me right off the bat with its clean, sweet sherry aroma. It is not ultra-complex but just pleasant all around. Some complain that it is too sherried but that is what makes it such a winner for me. It is rather more like a brandy than a whisky but highly drinkable. It costs $35 in Ontario and by our standards it is a good deal (used to cost $50). I'm on my second bottle and I reckon I'll buy it again. I have a friend who claimed not to like sherried whiskies, and this has become one of his favourites. He can't stop drinking it!

Lost Pollito
I love Arran. If you can find it, pick up a bottle of Lochranza from Blackadder. A very nice Arran to add to the malt vault IMO.

A very nice Arran to add to the malt vault IMO.The new 14 year old is out in Ontario. I reckon it is nice stuff. For a few dollars less there is also a single sherry cask, aged 12 years. Seems like a pretty good deal but I'm hesitant due to the risk of sulphur. I've had a few dodgy bottles and now I'm distrustful of sherry. Last night I put a splash of Kilchoman in a glass of Arran and it was a wonderful marriage.
