What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?

Ardbeg Uigeadail. I found this really benefited from a splash of water. There is so much going on in this whiskey that somehow a little water quieted the yelling down and allowed the sherry and peat to play nicely together.

I really like this scotch, but I am thinking I'll be happy to replace it with the standard 10 year old when the time comes. I'm not saying it is better, but it is over $20 cheaper, and many of the same things are happening in the both of them.

Have you had any of the others in the line? I haven't but I would like to try the one aged in bourbon barrels. I'm really looking forward to getting this one:

Ardbeg Uigeadail again. Man, this is great stuff.

After years and years of bourbon being nearly the only whiskey I ever drank, scotch is nudging its way into my heart.

I may not being going over to the darkside, but I sure like having a vacation there. :grin:

Stop tempting a man of the cloth, Hank. Have you no shame!! I've been tempted myself to get this Uigeadail for a couple of months, since Christian was speaking so highly of it. Now, with Tom here loving on it, too...I guess I'll have to break down. I gotta tell ya' though, I was not a fan of the bottle of the 10 yr that I had. Very weak as compared to my favorite Scotch of all time--Lag 16. I dunno, maybe apples and oranges. Maybe, I'm just plain whacked. But, I'm looking forward to trying the Uigeadail. I think I'll slip down to the bar for a pour of that Lagavulin...

Joe, I appreciate your support, but being a Presbyterian pastor (those Scottish roots...), my predilection for distilled spirits is sort of unavoidable.

I had a Lagavulin 16 a few days ago... Not bad at all. But not splendid. It's just a matter of taste, of course, but I much prefer Ardbeg. I'd take the Ug and the ten year over the Lag 16.

Finally, speaking of Springbank, I saw it on the back of a bar when my wife and I went out for a drink the other night. I was shocked at how flavorful and deep it was. I was really wowed. Then I figured out why. The majority of the bottle was obscured, and I assumed and expected it was the 10. But it was the 15. Really great stuff.

Unfortunately, not only did my palate detect the difference, but my wallet did, too. :bigeyes:

Rather than pick the Laga 16 or the Ardbeg Uigie - go for the Lagavulin Distillers edition! All the sweet peaty goodness of Lag 16, with a huge (Pedro Ximinez) Sherry finish. Mmmm.. although pricier than either of the original options by $20-$30.

Laphroaig Triple Wood is another candidate - and at the lower end of the price spectrum - usually around $60 locally here in Dallas. Not as sherried as Uigie, but I really prefer the Laphroaig peat to most others.

Sadly, I'd not be able to choose if it meant leaving one or the other out.

Sprinbank/Longrow are also amazing drams. Tonight, however, it's going to be McCarthy's Oregon Peated Single Malt. 3 years young, and a stunner!

Glenmorangie Classic 10 and Springbank 10 tonight. Both just superb. The Glenmorangie really surpised me as I was not expecting such complexity.

My first taste of Glenrothes Select Reserve. Very enjoyable on this gloomy day. I have only had a few Scotch's and this one is mild, smooth and easy to drink.

He said it was a cheap one called Glen Plaid.

Never heard that one before I thought it was funny.

Glen Plaid is a very common fabric pattern but the name is probably a takeoff of the Inver House Green Plaid brand. That stuff certainly is cheap.
