Gillman
Good summary of some of the salient aspects of the distillery and its history (although no mention is made of the distinctive charcoal mellowing method).Jack Daniels at its best is an excellent whiskey.I find regular Jack Daniels good with coke. But for neat sampling, some bottles of the Single Barrel are truly superb being rich-bodied, very flavorful products. The recent bottlings on Februray 1, 2008 (I have seen examples from Ricks 14, 15 and 19 and one I believe from Rick 23) are superb in every way and trump earlier years' bottlings I have tried. I wonder if B-F is putting a new emphasis on the brand or at least the single barrel bottling: if so the results are showing.Gary
cas
I haven't had the single barrel in a few years but I did have a glass from one of the 90 proof specialty bottles recently and found it pretty good. However, the standard 80 proof black jack neat or on the rocks is disappointing.Craig
