cowdery
Here's something else to consider if you are contemplating a visit to Kentucky. February 12, 2009 is the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The official observance of it began on 2/12 this year and continues until 2/12/2010. Many Lincoln sites will have special events during the bicentennial celebration period. Kentucky has many Lincoln sites. He was born there and although he left when he was seven years old, both of his parents were born and raised in Kentucky, as was his wife, Mary Todd. Cornman
And you don't even have to go to Kentucky (although that's clearly the way to go if you can - boohoo I won't). A wide variety of activities in many states are listed here:http://www.lincolnbicentennial.gov/including a traveling display that sounds pretty worthwhile, certainly for our impressionable youth. It will make it to several sites pretty far east and west in the country in the next two years.
