Taken from Saveur #74, recipe by "master mixologist," Dale DeGroff (http://www.kingcocktail.com/)
3 orange slices, 2 for garnish
1 slice lemon
3 oz. Wild Turkey 101
2 oz. orange curaçao
1 oz. sweet vermouth
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
2 maraschino cherries for garnish
2 slices of orange for garnish
1. Put 1 slice orange and lemon slice into a cocktail shaker and fill shaker with ice. Add Wild Turkey, curacao, Vermouth, and lemon juice and shake well.
2. Put a few ice cubes into 2 martini glasses. Strain cocktail into glasses and garnish each with a maraschino cherry and a slice of orange.
--------
I suggest Vya sweet vermouth (http://www.vya.com/index.html) and Senior Curacao curaçao (http://www.spiritsreview.com/reviews-liqueur-senior-curacao.htm). For the fruit, I prefer organic Valencia oranges and home-made maraschino cherries (http://www.cocktailians.com/2008/08/homemade-marasc.html) (or barring that, Luxardo brand (http://www.kegworks.com/product.php?productid=172224)). I'm lucky to have my own lemon tree as well.
This cocktail is also good with rye...
