Today the Alcademics blog features an article about the Knob Creek "empty bottle" press kit. Apparently, Beam sent out another kit, this time with a full bottle - with a clear label with white ink replacing the "old newspaper clipping" label on the bottle.

Those transparent applied labels are really taking over...

Looks like they released it that way to avoid these bottles going to retail.

As usual, I strongly prefer the existing, traditional labeling. :skep:

Correct me if I am wrong but this guy creates some blog about booze and starts getting free whiskey in the mail. And the liquor companies buy that?! What a scam. I gotta get on that wagon.

I'm with you on that, Tim. I prefer the more traditional look of the existing label as well.

I like the see through labels, If they are otherwise handsome. By that, I mean I don't like the Fighting Cock label. I like them only because they look, at a distance anyhow, like the painted on type, like Baby Saz or glass pop bottles. They don't obscure the whiskey. Why that style, painted on labeling, isn't traditionally used by distillers has always been something I've wondered about.

Nice looking bottle... Always good to have a change I supose...

KC hasn't been sold here in Australia for a few years for that reason... Only 1 store I have found in Australia still brings it in..

So, now that I "stocked up" to see my way through the "drought":skep: my old paper labels are collectible? Now I need to buy some of these clear labeled bottles so I don't drink up all my antiques?:smiley_acbt:

Whadda Scam!:hot:

I'm not sure, but my impression is that the 'clear' labels are the rarity, created just for promo bottles sent to writers to commemorate the end of the 'drought.'

Or has someone seen them at retail?

All the stocks of KC I've seen everywhere are the paper labels.

The only thing different I've seen with Knob Creek packaging is an embossed holiday gift-tin.

The only thing I don't love about Knob Creek is the price it commands here locally ~$38. I know it sells for quite a bit cheaper elsewhere. Oh, that and how it is sometimes difficult to open the wax seal when the tab breaks off.
