I got my hands on a couple of Evan Williams 7yo and is wondering about the bottling year
One is a 4/5 Quart and the other is 25.4 FL Oz. - 750ml
I got the idea that the numbers in the bottom could help me about that
One says 74 and the other 79, is that the bottling year ?

Whatever the actual bottling year, they've been around for a while. Can you post pix?

The 7 was a superlative bourbon, star of the HH line up of 20 years ago, say. HH makes some excellent products today but EW is not what it was IMO.

Beautiful bottles! Now that they have replaced some warehouse space, does anyone think HH might go back to an age-stated product?
Anything can happen but I think for the time being, age statements are going to be limited to higher end products.

I've seen hinted in other threads that one of the nmbers on the bottom should indicate bottling year. This shouldn't been connected to vintage as the casks could be from several years still (but might not, you never know)
I am looking for something similar as bottlecodes

While the EW finds are nice, I'm more partial to that Bitter Truth Rye to the right in the photo. I'd LOVE to replace my empty bottle with a full one...can you still find it over there?

I don't think so, I got it more than a year ago from an importer who went bust, he had a few bottles left. I need to ask someone frequenting their shop as it's not in my part of the country.
This being a single cask bottling (or close to it) I reckon its near impossible to get anywhere anymore

Still no idea about the bottling years of Ewan Williams ?
I wish there were a EwanWilliamsProject.com page out there :-)

It's still availble on their whiskyshop here : http://whiskyshop.dk/whisky-usa-11/the-bitter-truth-rye-whisky-24-y-69-2-2980.html
Thats around 460$, if you thinks steep, thats also the approx price for "similar" products like Stagg, Rittenhouse 25yo and Parker's Heritage

Hey, Larry Kass from HH here. I can help a bit with this one, those bottles are pre-1983 (because they pre-date the 200 year anniversary necker) and in fact are pre-1981 (because they are still in quarts and have a strip stamp). I would guess in the range of 1978-81. The blown in numbers in the glass on the bottom don't tell you anything about the date, they are for the Anchor glass mold. There is an ink-jetted code on bottles now that has the bottling date information, but this technology is only about 15 years old.
Hope this helps, and hope you like the Bourbon!

Thank you very much Larry, I am trying to get a range of these and do a vertical just for the fun of it, will add some recent ones soon and will look for the laser code
