Hello everyone!

First, let me say thank you for putting all this information out into the world. I've been lurking around these parts for quite some time (I know, you haven't heard that one before  ), learning many things, and I finally feel like I should be contributing. Better late than never?

I'm a new dad living in Colorado and have recently begun distilling and brewing for a local distillery. I won't say who because I don't want it to reflect negatively on my employer when I post stupid things (and I can promise, I will post stupid things  ).

I've been enjoying whiskey for years now, celebrating all its forms (except Canadian), and bourbon is a particular love of mine. But... I don't have a large bourbon budget. I have no bunker and I've never tried any Pappy, ORVW, or BTAC. I think the most expensive bottle I've purchased is a 4RSB (the standard, not the LE). So I won't be able to participate in all the Pappy worshipping I've noticed around here... but maybe someday. Right now I'm enjoying some bottles of Weller 12, OWA, 1792, and an OFBB 2011.

I think that's about it. I look forward to getting to know you all... or at least most of you.

Welcome aboard. Always nice to have insiders on the board, even if they are in disguise.

Ha ha! Thanks for the welcome. But I'd hardly call myself an insider at this point. If I ever get fired I'll be sure to share allll the juicy details.

Lesson #1 if you're employed in the distilling business:

EVERY BOTTLE YOU BUY CAN BE EXPENSED AS RESEARCH.

Go out and buy those bottles you've not yet tried. It'll make you better at your job, trust me.

Hey thanks Mat! Are we talking about a tax write off? I had no idea you could get away with-I mean-do that! Is this one of those "too good to be true" things? Oh man, gotta go talk to the wife...

Yeah, Colorado is beautiful. Plenty of mountains, rivers, nice weather... oh and of course a pretty good selection of whiskey in our liquor stores. If only it had an ocean... then it would be perfect.

Welcome! Sounds like you already have some nice bottles open. Plenty more great bottles are available outside of the limited releases, so just kick back and enjoy the ride!

Better yet, talk to your employer and your CPA.

A view of the mountains and a Weller 12 or OWA is a pretty great evening. One man's home is another's vacation.

True true. I'll be at my sister's graduation from grad school in May. Her school is out in LA, so your home will be my vacation Scooter.

Looking forward to some In-N-Out and beach time!
