Good news:
Rittenhouse Rye is growing in popularity.

Bad news:
Rittenhouse Rye is growing in popularity.

If you're one of the increasing number of fans of Rittenhouse Straight Rye Whisky, you can enjoy taking a little blame for the spirit's relatively short supply. There's been a resurgence in the popularity of Rye Whiskey in recent years and Rittenhouse, and several of the older, more established American Straight Rye brands, have been scrambling to keep up with the demand.

The good news is that there are a significant number of barrels of perfectly aged Rye that have just come available, so it won't be long before you'll start seeing better supplies of it at your favorite bars and spirits retailers. This should ultimately improve stocks of Rittenhouse Bottled-in-Bond.

Back in 2010, over 1000 barrels "came of age":

That's what, over 100,000 bottles? Maybe over 200,000? Did they just not release these yet? Or do they have even more?

They seem to do their big release in the fall and this fall we might see the first of the DSP 1 Rittenhouse. Be looking for it on the BIB back label. If you can find any Rittenhouse, stocking up on the last of the DSP 354 juice might be justified.

I've been accumulating a little stash of Ritt BiB -- looks like the pace needs to quicken just a bit. Thank you for the heads up, I was unaware a change was in the works.

On the way back from the trip south, stopped by a very nice liquor store in Locust Grove, Georgia. Found 8 Rittenhouse BiB's. The best part was the price - $17.99 each. Would say it was good trip!

Only 7 in the picture - gave 1 to my son for house sitting.

Still have 3 bottles bunkered from a couple years ago at $18 or so. $24 at BevMo these days and even worse at independent liquor marts. Perhaps I'll grab a couple for comparison and sit on these until the fall. I do need to crack another one open for drinking purposes; Ritt used to be my mixing whiskey and now I'm too lazy to mix a drink.

Picked up 6 at the local specialty shop last night for $19.25 a bottle. Plus they gave us 10% off on the wine we bought with it.

I don't seem to have a problem stumbling upon Ritt. Thank god. Got a case In the closet:cool:

$20.99 - best I can find and a steal at the price. Buying in multiples every time I go.

There's a place in town that has these for $15.99. This and the Baby Saz (which is usually around $19 around here) both make a killer Sazerac cocktail, but I prefer the Rittenhouse.

Just got a bottle last week for 21.99 and found a place with multiple for 19.99 in midtown manhattan. From the looks of this thread, I should go back and pick a few up.
