Hello all,

I'm a longtime whiskey drinker but new to tasting it without any mixers or in shot form, but I guess 5 years of college will do that to you.
I've recently begun to truly appreciate bourbon and stumbled across this forum. The amount of knowledge on whiskey here has taught me immensely in a short amount of time and I look forward to learning even more.

I currently live in Brooklyn though I am a native Texan.

I can't say what my favorite pour is as I've been on a mission to try just about everything recently. I'm lucky to have some great whiskey bars within walking distance from my apartment and a girlfriend accepting of my growing collection. I look forward to interacting with many of you and learning much more about bourbon itself.

Jake

Welcome Jakew! Lots of great info here, and a great place to learn. Just watch where you step sometimes (like walking in a pasture filled with cattle).

Like you I am relatively new to this forum, but over the past couple or so years have tried just about every bourbon out there, to the point my wife thinks I'm going crazy. Be honest with yourself, and throw away preconceived notions about what you like and don't like. The end results may surprise you.

Finally, what is a Texan doing in Brooklyn?

Welcome! This place is awesome. Be prepared to totally geek out over this stuff (and spend all your money on it)!

Thanks for the kind welcomes!

As for a Texan being in Brooklyn, it's for work. The field I'm in has a lot more jobs out here than in Texas. I absolutely love it out here though. There's also a surprising amount of Texans all around out here.

Welcome! You're going to love this place!

I'm actually heading to NYC tomorrow. HW dinner at Char No. 4 on Tuesday, Whisky Live on Wed., and some staff training and account visits in between. Fly home on on Fri., only to return Sunday night to pour at our distributor's tasting (Winebow's "Spirits in the City") Mon. Fly home Tue.

Awesome! Does this mean you can do a little "research" on Martin's Mill 24 yr and the other $100 per ounce pours using your expense account?!? ;)
