View Full Version : How do you prefer your EC12?
Typically, I taste a bourbon neat in a Glencairn, then add a drop of water, then in a rocks glass with ice. Over the years, I have concluded that I prefer the EC12 on the rocks. I'm not quite sure why, but I suspect that ice helps mask the flaws while enhancing its more pleasant attributes. What say you?
I prefer all my whisk(e)y neat. I don't dislike it with a splash of water or a bit of ice, but I prefer it neat 99.9% of the time.

A small cube is nice, but neat will do when I'm out of ice.... :)

I drink it neat, but I drink most everything neat. I'll try it with a cube tonight, out of curiosity.
It's below 100 proof, so neat. If it was above 100 proof I of course prefer neat. The super aged bourbons that are super proof I prefer neat of course and the watered down bourbons around the 80 proof mark of course deserve to be drank.............neat. Other than that I mix the fuck out of rum, vodka, gin (what's that) and tequilla.

Stop mixing your tequila and drink it neat. Come on man!
I had my EC12 with a cube. For me, it killed off the vanilla flavor which is my favorite part of EC12 and made it into a much more nondescript pour. I'll take this one neat for sure.
I prefer my EC12 down the drain.

Literally LOL.
I prefer my EC12 to be distilled in Bardstown.
I first started drinking bourbon at the end of the time when this was likely to have come from Bardstown and sure enjoyed the bottles I got then. Wish I'd bunkered some.
I prefer my EC12 down the drain.
The off the shelf bottle I have has been poured down the drain on a couple occasions...I just can't get into it. The EC 12 (15) that the GBS did is drank neat.

Aged another six years.
Not sure why, but this one just seems young at twelve compared to others with similer age.

It is strange how it can taste a little young (a little hot with a little green wood flavor) at 12 years, right?
But I like its sweet hot-ness. So I drink it neat.
Left on the shelf..I'm not a fan
I have never had a bottle of EC12 that I didn't like. I think it is a great value for a bourbon with some decent age. I have a couple of pours every week and drink it neat.
I've had mixed results with EC12, like many here, but I typically like it with about a teaspoon of cold water. It doesn't fare that well on ice (and I am not at all afraid to put ice in my bourbon).

I prefer my EC 12 to not have that terrible metallic taste that you find in some bottles of it.

I like my EC12 new make to be aged in warehouses that produce EWSB.
Otherwise, I like it left on the store shelves.

And a straw, straight from the bottle. Ain't that why they call it Kentucky Straight Bourbon?
