To celebrate my 200th post I thought I´d tell you about another celebration (of sorts). The first ever book in Swedish about Bourbon is about to be published in September.

It is called "Bourbon - en handbok" and is written by one Örjan Westerlund. Apparently he is a founder member of a Swedish culinary society called the Scent From Heaven Society. http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif

One shouldn´t get oneself too worked up about this. After all, the book only consists of 72 pages and probably presents a very shallow picture of our favourite pastime. But, still, it´s definitely a sign that there is some interest lurking beneath the shadows. 5-6 years ago a product like this wouldn´t have been commercially viable at all.

Come to think of it, could this be the first non-English book about Bourbon published outside of Japan? (I have no idea about any Japanese bourbon books but somehow I took it for granted that they have produced something).

Any one out there who have information about other non-English titles?

I have a copy of WHISK(E)Y by Stefan Gabani, which was originally published in German. The copyright page as a "translated by" credit. From 1997, this is a wonderful lexicon of all things whiskey. I love the hand-drawn illustrations and the quotes thrown in on every letter's page: for example, the page for letter R has this quote:

Let me know what brand of whiskey Grant uses.
For if it makes fighting generals like Grant,
I should like to get some of it for distribution.

I was a bit confused at first, since I couldn´t find any info at all about this book or the author.

Apparently, the German version of Amazon.com has a more effective search system (Die berümhte Deutsche Grundlichkeit! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) since a search for 'Stefan Gabani' instead led me to the book "Whisk(e)y" by Stefan Gabanyi.

Never heard of this title before but surely this is a book about whisky in general, not specifically about Bourbon or American whiskey?
