I found a single bottle of Old Rip 15yr old of the Lawrenceburg bottling today. $47.

Should I crack it open? Or is it worth anything?
Man I want to taste some tonight! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/yum.gif http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Too late. The bottle was staring at me too long. I cracked it and pour a few fingers neat. I forgot how good this really is. http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/falling.gif Thank you Julian! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/thankyousign.gif

Good find! I've been looking for a 15 yo Lawrenceburg ORVW, but haven't found any yet. How does it compare to the more recent bottles?

Great find! I've only found a Frankfort bottle, but it's mighty good in its own right. http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/drink.gif

I think this bottle is the best I had yet in my bourbon tasting days. I have also had the Frankfurt, but this seems or is smoother, more complex. I have tried many bourbons, but this is the best yet. I have had Old WellerAntique 107, Knob Creek, Bookers, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Old Grand Dad 114, Eagle Rare 101, Bulleit, Blantons, Elijah Craig, and a few others...but this is a bottle worth savoring, although I had about 1/5 of this bottle tonight in the last 8hrs.

I found a single bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle 15yr old of the Lawrenceburg bottling today. $37.64 including tax. The store clerk noticed that it was listed and priced as Pappy Van Winkle and noticed that it was not that product. Since ORVW15 is no longer listed in the state book and the liquor store did not know what to charge. They took the price for the 10 year old ORVW and added an arbitrary amount. The old price was $56.17. So to make up for the favorable pricing, I had to buy the lone bottle of Eagle Rare 101.

I will wait to open the ORVW15, as I get some false satifaction just seeing the bottle on the shelf. Some day I will do a taste comparison between ORVW15 Lawrenceburg and PVW15 as I am the proud owner of both.

I paid $35 for the 15yo on special order in Baltimore. The 15 is much more oaky then the 10 for me. I think ORVW 10 107 is the perfect bourbon. That is...after Rebel Yell /stupid grin
