Shared the Elijah Craig 18 this weekend

we had a gathering where I sail and we shared my bottle of EJ 18. All straight, no water or ice. It was very well recieved. When I tried it with a little water, it turned bitter..

Perhaps this one is better straight. Usually I find a little water opens up the flavors. Not so with this one....

I will be the first to admit my memory is slipping a bit, but where near Kokomo do you go sailing?

What else did you try while on your outing? Did y'all compare it to any other bourbons? I have not had the 18yr yet.
