New here need info?

I just received a bottle of Old Weller 107 from my Step-father. He bought the Old Weller back in 1981 and put it on a back shelf in a closet. I guess what I would like to know is does this stuff age in a glass bottle with a plastic lid. Should I consume it now or leave it as is and put it away.

Bourbon/whiskey does NOT age after bottling. It's still a 7yo.
It's a good sipping whiskey, highly-prized, but not especially valuable (beyond what your step-father likely paid for it). Open it and enjoy it -- it's very good.

Indeed, it has not aged anymore but enjoy the whiskey. It should be quite good and I believe it should contain whiskey from the long-defunct-but-much-praised Stitzel-Weller distillery.
