Slummin' it today, an Old Grand Dad BIB followed by a WLWeller Special Reserve.

Hey, it's only Monday.

Had a little Frankfort Centennial before dinner while I read some of a great novel...then some Saz Jr. after dinner which is ok but not tasting as good as I remember -- must be that stir fry tainting my palate -- apples and rye are coming through, though. Good enough for a Monday as my friend, Mr. Hightower already said.

Nothing slummy about those two, comrade.

Had some 2008 OFBB tonight (and I'm about to have some more). It don't get much better than that. Although it is hard to get into my liquor cabinet, having such a big bottom. Although that is usually a plus.

Last night I made a tasty old-fashioned with my rye-recipe Frankenbourbon -- a vatting of the dregs of many near-empty bottles.

I picked up a bottle of Old Charter 101 tonight and am trying it for the first time.

It's good. It's not great but it's good. However truth be told I am searching for the next best thing to OCPR and this ain't it.

Oh well, I don't mind sipping this while I continue the search!

Billy, don't be put off by the plastic bottle of AAA 10 Star. The whiskey inside is very good. It's light years better than the regular AA.

I just bought a bottle of this last friday by mistake. I forgot the "ten star" vs. "ten year" caveat. Here, the bottle is glass.

I tried a bit and didnt like it. I let the pour air for awhile and still thought the nose was very "paint thinner". The bottle has set for a few days with some air in it, I'll have to give it another go.
