Cassius King
I have another question. I apologize for all the newb questions, and I appreciate all the help that's been provided.Do bourbon makers date stamp their bottles at all? I recently bought a bottle of PVW 20 year and don't see any indication as to when it was made/bottled. How do you know if you've bought an old bottle off the shelf or a new release? ggilbertva
I have another question. I apologize for all the newb questions, and I appreciate all the help that's been provided.Do bourbon makers date stamp their bottles at all? I recently bought a bottle of PVW 20 year and don't see any indication as to when it was made/bottled. How do you know if you've bought an old bottle off the shelf or a new release?Yes and no. If you do a search for bottle dates in the Collectibles forum, you will probably get some hits on dating a bottle. New stuff is hit or miss. With the PVW there's no way to tell that I'm aware of when it was bottled whereas the VWFRR does have one indicator where you could decipher the age and year of bottling. In some cases, new bottles have the laser imprint on the bottom of the bottle that indicates the Julian date and year. Again, it's hit or miss with newer stuff. OscarV
OK folks it's been about 3 weeks since the last post so let's see what's open on my bar.Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve, I gotta admit I wasn't expecting much from this one but it has grown on me. I think this has surpassed OGD 114 as the best Beam.Willet Family Estate Single Barrel, This is the notorious Reid & Emerald selection of a Bernheim wheater. I like this bottle a lot but then again what's not to like, it's 17yo & 133.2prf.Four Roses Single Barrel, Just a standard bottling that they sent up here to the Mitten from Lawrenceburg but after tasting it they probably wish they had it back!! It's so gooood.Old Rip Van Winkle 10yo 107prf, This was a little rough yesterday when I first opened it, from 2009, it's calmed down some and I can tell that toffee heaven awaits me in a few more days.Elmer T Lee 15 Year Old Single Barrel, This baby wants to make me cry. I have never ever ever had a whiskey that is so subtle yet so flavorful at the same time. I have kicked myself in the ass more than once for only getting one bottle of this.Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit, A Pewter Top that was bottled 3-21-01. This one is a contradiction. Color:Lame & light. Nose:As deep as the Baby Jessica Well. Taste:Classic Turkey!! It's so goood!!So there ya have it guys, that's what you'll find open here.
