What Bourbon Are You Drinking? Summer 2009

Yesterday I had Kentucky gentleman from 1970, EC12 and JDGJ. I had not had this JD for a couple of years and it was the first time from the new slim bottle. It was a very, very big disappointment. It was thin and meaningless in general and defiantly less good than I did remember.

Went back for some Blanton's....then some SW Old Fitz BIB...then I killed the last dregs of the RR10/90 that was taking up space. The last pour of that had a grassy note to it...interesting, but strange.

I'm now quite ready for bed.

No bourbon yesterday, but only Rittenhouse BIB. This bottle really grows on me, and I tastes better than the only bottle I have had before (bought in Kentucky). There are lots in the taste that reminds of the excellent rye bread we eat bunches of here in Sweden.

Four Roses 2009 Barrel Strength, neat.

No bourbon yesterday, but only Rittenhouse BIB. This bottle really grows on me, and I tastes better than the only bottle I have had before (bought in Kentucky). There are lots in the taste that reminds of the excellent rye bread we eat bunches of here in Sweden.

Opening up the festivities with an Ezra Brooks Single Barrel 15 yr. Butterscotch out the yingyang. :yum: Stunningly delicious. Next, I think I'll head over for a smidge of 4 Roses SB 40th Anniv.

Parker's with varied amounts of tap water. Now that I wrote that it reminds me it rained more than 1/2" here today, and with our combined sewer overflow problem there is probably a bit of excrement in there as well.

It's a nice evening here in VA so sitting on the front porch enjoying an '84 Old Overholt. This particular rye has a very nice balance between sweet and spicy with a moderate finish that slowly fades away. A real super whiskey in my opinion.

I'm feeling the effects of the bourbon a little I have to admit...started with the ER17 as promised. I moved onto ETL Binny's Barrel from there and then finally onto GJ with Diet finish the night. That ER 17 is stupid good!

WTAS before dinner, JDSS with the dark chocolate after dinner and Stagg 2008 right now. Must say that both the JD and the Stagg was much better than the Turkey.

I noticed an open bottle of Four Roses Small Batch on the shelf that looked a little neglected so I'm having a bit of it this afternoon. :grin:

A couple of nice hits from an EWSB 1999. This is my favorite year, since the 94. The finish of this 99 is fabulous. It's dryish, but not parching. It lasts forever. I really like EC18. This reminds me of the finish on that, but more subdued. It's on sale here. I usually don't bunker regular pours, but this one is going in.
