8 parts Weller 107, 1 part each Kentucky Tavern and Bulleit/Four Roses 120th, dash water, then dash Buffalo Trace. Swirl hard to blend.

The taste is sweetish/honeyed with a light wheaty edge yet with a "bottom" that the wheaters don't have on their own. An excellent 4-grain.

I have been enjoying ofbb 08 this week. Glad I don't have a ofbb 09 from the reports on this one. Think I will open the 07 next. What year did the ofbb start? tim

The first year I remember is 2002. It was 13-years old. It is the best whiskey I have ever tasted. I stocked up.

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2009, neat.

Emerald is right, it does taste like a plastic baby diaper.

Allright, I gotta ask: how do folks here know what a a "plastic baby diaper" tastes like?

Don't ask. People around here are into some crazy stuff. I heard some weird sounds coming through the vents at the Gen. Nelson.:skep:

Glad I wasn't there. I have some habits that would make Emerald blush----

errr, no. No, that isn't mine, and in fact I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before, ever...

Just some additional commentary on the 4-grain I mentioned. Of the three ounces I made, I divided it in two. To the second part I added two drops or so of orange bitters, Stirrings in this case. (Thanks again Wade for pointing this out to me in that store near Jim Butler's 3 years ago).

This lent a faint orange note and some extra smoothness to the vatting. What really made it work I think were the two rye-recipe bourbons added. As I mentioned they provide a bottom or base that grounds the drink so to speak. Of course, wheaters can gain their own complexity, but I find generally this is through prolonged aging (for today's products).

A bourbon I liked a lot in Bardstown on this trip was Forester Signature. It has a full body with a flowery note (different than Four Roses') and is really excellent especially considering the price.

I think I have to add it to the Buffalo Trace at the Getz bar as the best bourbon of the trip for me.

tonight my wife and I got slightly snockered (as opposed to outright trashed) and then played halo 2 together. we started with seven crown and barq's root beer, and then I had a couple of glasses of Pappy van winkle 15 year. delicious stuff.

Brother-in-law came over and said......

"I've been drinking Bourbon straight for a little while now. I really like Basil Hayden and Bookers. Do you have anything better than that?"

First I responded...
