Just opened a bottle of KC ive had for a little and it tastes off, definatly not as enjoyable as past bottles or mabey my tastes are just changing

Scratch that. Having a second pour of the KC and its much more enjoyable, alot more sweetness coming through. Mabey this is just one of those bottles where you get something different out of each pour

Had an Old Forester Signature last night, followed by a hefty pour of EC 18. We were sitting outside on the front porch until 10:30 or so and couldn't believe how cold it's been getting at night here in Chicagoland. At least we were warm internally.

Had some OFBB 2009 last night. OK, but certainly no "wow" factor. Makes me wish I had more of the 2008.

FRSB, with a cube...definitely just trying to finish the bottle to make room for future BTAC bottles.

JPS 17yr, neat...must be my palate today as the woody finish is almost unbearable. First time Ive had this experience, although I didnt taste it right after it was poured-maybe sat for 2 hrs.

Had some Maker's Mark and Knob Creek this afternoon at the bar to celebrate my last true day off until December.

The first time I tasted the JPS I had the same experience. But after a few sips it seemed to mellow out. So far the bottle I'm working on has been nothing but good to me. I think I should go do a little research.

A nice pour of Jacob's Well. Not the most demanding whiskey I've ever had, but it's a nice, easy, and pleasing drink. Although, it's a Beam product, I'm getting more than a touch of a Heaven Hillish minty mentholyptus on the nose. Some citrus and pine coming through, mid-palate. Crap, I sound like Euell Gibbons...:crazy:

EC18.

After that, Ive decided to give my favorite bottle, the JPS 17yr, a rest. Check that, I think I will give all wheaters a rest for bit. Ive been hitting the VW's, the Wellers and the JPS pretty seriously as of late and had forgotten about their rye cousins.

I know the EC18 is hit or miss around here, but to me, its one the best bang for the buck pours at $40. Absolutely love the musky nose, the slow burn on the tongue and the long, smooth 4 minute finish...

Now I'm done.

Sipping some of the new OFBB 2009. Very easy drinking, wonderful wine like mouthfeel to this bourbon. Not quite a sweet as WR, but I'm picking up dark fruit, caramel, and yes...dark chocolate.

Having a little WLW 12yr too, light and sweet and delicious.

I'm with you on the EC 18. I happen to love it, as it was my "gateway" into the world of bourbon, and it's still a special pour every time I drink it.

I AM jealous. I'm enjoying some 1996 EWSB. Nice stuff.

'96 was a good year....one of my favs so far of the EWSB.
