Started out with a 114 then a VWFRR on the porch after dinner with the wife over cribbage.

Switched to Red Breast during a Mad Men marathon.

Now I'm nightcapping with a bit of LaRue. Friday night at home isn't so bad, I have good company.

Thursday night I met my five drink minimum to qualify as a "binge," for those of you familiar with Cowdery's thread. I started out by knocking off the remains of a bottle of Ten High 10--one of those steep pours that amount to two drinks in an effort to finish off the bottle. The TH10 is a much better bourbon than the bottom shelf juice most of us are familiar with. It was certainly a premium-type whiskey in its time and one that should be checked out if you can find some.

At this point I was off to the races, so on to AAA 10--another nice pour that has all sorts of subtle complexities. What next, you ask? Well, OCPR seemed in order, so I had a nice pour from a bottle that I've been trying to conserve (only one left in the bunker and no others in sight). I absolutely love OCPR--rich, luxurious stuff with just the right amount of sweetness balanced by 13 years of oak-y goodness. I should have quit then but the music was good (The Band's self-titled classic second album and some Muddy Waters) so I reached for the Eagle Rare 10/101 to finish off the night. Let me tell you folks, it doesn't get much better than OCPR and ER10/101 for pure pleasure in a glass. If you haven't had them, it's time to get on your dusty-hunting horse and go find yourself some. That was a great night of bourbon and just what the doctor ordered.

The last out of a bottle of WTAS before dinner yesterday, than ORVW 10/107 with the almond cake for dessert and Stagg 2008 late at night.

Hm…my favourite bourbon. Maybe its time for me to open one from the bunker soon? You only live ones.

I just had one pour last night from an OWA 107 bottling for a liquor store in Northern KY.

I can't seem to put down the wheaters. Perhaps when it gets colder my taste will shift back.

Boones Knoll 16 (Michters) and EC 12 before dinner and ORVW 10/107, VWFRR and OGD 114 after. All were more or less good but the ones after dinner was much better in general than the ones before.

Another tradition continues, I opened a PVW15 tonight for the past several years I've opened a PVW15 after I got home from the 1st football game of the season.

I must admit, I like Lot B a little better. A little sweeter and less heat.

Polished off one of the dusty bottles I found today. (Luckily it was only a 200 ml). Old Fitz BIB DSP-KY-16/24.

Enjoyed a little Elmer T. Lee tailgating at the Ohio State game....

Some of my more non bourbon friends really enjoyed the pour. I love the responses from people when they drink this juice, as it always surprises them with this sweet and tasty gem!!!

Last night, I opened my Old Forester Signature. The aroma and flavor were right on the spot, damn near perfect. However, I found it to be quite harsh, giving me a strong, burning mouth feel. I had to add ice to finish it.

Maybe something was wrong with my mouth. I will certainly give OFS more chances.

I closed out last night with a pour of Lot B. It put my bottle under the half way mark. I need to find another, and soon.

I opened the Handy last night and tried it for the first time, very good stuff! I was expecting that I might need to add a little water, but ended up not. Also had some dusty OWA and some ORVW 10/107.
