Beam 155 Month 86 proof from late 60s eary 70s... You know, beam use to make some great damn bourbon... the new stuff is not even close to this... including their small batch...

I did pop open a Rittenhouse 10 from my bunker today and had a pour for the first time in a couple of years or so. Not really as good as I did remember, but that was probably because I took it on an empty stomach. It is so punchy that it taste better after dinner or at least after a couple of other drinks. After dinner I had an ORVW 10/107 with the desert and it tasted awesome!

1980 Early Times KSBW. Very nice and flavorful 80 proofer

Clynelish 14 year. Sweet, low peat and very tasty.

In Oak Ridge, TN on biz. Hit one store so far that did not have a great selecttion but picked up a bottle of EC12 because I hadn't tried it. Not one of my favorites, but not to bad. It was very sweet up front with kind of a bitter finish. But not horrible.

Oh, and forgive me for I have sinned...curiosity overtook me and I picked up a 50 ml of Red Stag and took one sip. That stuff is vile.

Ironhead the store with the best selection in Oak Ridge is Turnpike Wine and Spirits. It would be worth your drive to go to McScrooges in Knoxville on Parkside Drive at Cedar Bluff. I am one town over in Clinton TN. tim

Lot B before dinner yesterday and Dickel 12 with the lime truffles after. Must say I think the Tennessee is a much better whiskey to my personal taste. Lot B really seemed to lack proof and bite. The bottle I tasted had been a couple of years in the bunker. Maybe the current is a little better.

I think you'll find that the Old Forester Signature is quite good. It's one of the few things I buy in 1.75L bottles, as all of my friends seem to like it now too and it's inexpensive enough that I don't care how much of it they drink. Good bourbon, good value!

The original plan was to drive down and hit as many stores as I could find, but unfortunately I wound up riding with someone else so I doubt I can swing the trip to Knoxville. I'll try and hit Turnpike on the way back home tomorrow. Thanks for the tips.

I did have Boones knoll 16 (Michters) and Dickel 8 before dinner yesterday. After dinner I had ORVW 10/107 with the red current cake for dessert and OGD 114 later in the night. Even though Bonnes knoll tasted a lot better than the current gold folio Hirsch I did consider it the least good pour of the night. The 10/107 was the best as usual.

Got home from work and had a small pour of ORVW 10/107. Then just for kicks, had a small pour of OWA 107. Hmmmm. First time I've done a side by side with those two. Might have to do it again sometime soon. Joe
