I am revisiting ETL this weekend and really enjoying it -- unlike Julio's that I had last year. Probably just my tastes changing and the RHFs I finished last month helped me out here . . . I really like this one -- I've almost finished it in the last 3 days (visiting with an old college buddy and we're getting some dood partying going) . . . glads I got an extra one while I was here.

Nice, you got a pic of the bottle. I didn't want to admit it, but I've been working through a bottle of Mellow Corn BIB over the last week. Just simple goodness.

I have caught a little cold in my nose, but I didn’t give up for that and had Dickel CH and Rittenhouse BIB before dinner and ORVW 10/107 and 15 after. The Tennessee and rye didn’t work out at all due to the nose problem but the wheatears was defiantly better with the very sweet 10 years bottling as the best.

Started with some BMH NAS. My first time trying it and I have to say the nose is very similar to the OGD114 that I have around and the flavor is also similar, just at a lesser proof.

I like OGD114 but I don't want that profile when I pay twice the price. This bottle is a bit disappointing. Anyone know if the juice in here is related?

I had a neighbor over tonight. He saw all my bottles and said...."are they any good?" and I said, "I don't know... wanna find out?":skep:

We drank from:

Pappy 20

Lot b

1983 Old fitz BIB

JPRS 17

Willett 17/97.1 (party Source)

2006 WLW

2009 Stagg

4 roses 40th

PH 126

I believe i have piqued his interest.

Scott - if that doesn't turn him on to bourbon, I don't think anything will! Great selection.

Myself, just enjoying some OWA 107. Nice stuff at a nice price

I'm down to 4 open bottles so I thought today would be a good day to open my first bottle of the year.

BTW, those open 4 are;

Wild Turkey Tradition 14yo

Four Roses Mariage 2009

Wild Turkey Rare Breed

Wild Turkey 101

I pulled out the Four Roses Single Barrel that was Hand Selected by Binny's in 2008.

These were Single Barrels not Barrel Strengths so of course they were 100prf.

They did 3 of them, this one is Barrel #3.

To quote an old thread that quoted Brett, "Barrel #3 is the rye/fruit monster, really spicy only barely restrained by some really nice fruit (cherry, etc.) character."

He really called it, the spice on the nose at first will make you surrrender but the underlining fruit reminds you why you drink bourbon to begin with and brings you back home safely.

If I had to guess I would say that this is from the OBSO recipe.

I see that 4R's has only used the OBSO recipe in 1/4 of the Small Batch vatting.

Taste aside the one thing that stands out with this bottle is the fatness that lays on the tounge in the aftertaste.

Which isn't bad, it's quite good actually, it's just that it is different than other 4R's.

To me 4R's has always been a very clean whiskey and this fat residue from this bottle is quite unique.

I love it, think I will have to "vault" some of this bottle.

I do too.....just a great bottling that is on my list of favorites.

On a fresh day, slowly try a small sip of the WT. Think about the flavors and finish. Then try the Saz. Then, sip them both again.

EC 12 before dinner and uncut 4 roses (OESO) from Binny´s After. Then some more EC 12 as it did appear better to me. Yes it is still better! Hm …maybe the cold in my nose still is puzzling me.

Me as well. I am toasting another Colts trip to the Superbowl and sending some good mojo the Saints way with some 09 Handy Saz. Tasty stuff.

Started with Old Fitz BIB and now trying BMH SB NAS again. The contrast isn't as bad as last night's. It still tastes very much like a slightly older OGD bottling than the OGD114 that I'm used to. Anyone know where this juice comes from? Is it related to the OGD family?

I've got an unopened bottle of both in the cabinet. You're making me want to pull them both out and give it a sample. If I do, I'll let you know my thoughts.

Killed the last bit a FRSB Curtis/Hightower edition while easing from vacation to work mode this evening. Man, I love this stuff and I'm glad I have three more put away.

Last night I was sipping some Old Ezra 15/101. Then later in chat, Joe and Paul talked me into opening a WT Tradition that I recently bought. Wow, the Tradition is some very good stuff!

Gus,

We had a Wild Turkey shootout recently and I picked Tradition over Tribute. I never thought I'd ever pick a better WT than Tribute.

Thanks Smowk. The BMH is alright enough, but it should sell for about $25 IMO.

Joe,

I had poured about 2oz, and by the time I finished it I was thinking that it must be the best Turkey I'd ever had. I've only had the Tribute on one occasion about 2.5 years ago at Randy's. I do have a bottle of the Tribute that I don't want to open quite yet, but I will have to open it before the Tradtion's gone to do a comparison.

I had the same thoughts last time I opened a bottle. I think I got this one for around $30.

I thought I remembered the BMH as being pretty sweet, but I could be wrong. I've found OGD114 to be pretty spicy.
