OscarV
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Seasoned Oak, neat.I forgot that I had some of this. Last night I stumbled acrossed it and had a small pour.I found it to be better than when I originally got it, I was put off by it for some reason.Sipping on one now, very nice, the sweet oakiness is doing me good. Lately when I have it I follow Scott's (Birdman) suggestion and use it to "season" some other pours (i.e., Lot B gets nicely aged with a 1/5 addition of the stuff).Cheers! nblair
I have found the '09 Handy to be very, very good. Had a nice lineup of Baby Saz, Saz 18, Handy, Ritt BIB, and VWFRR the other night. If the VW was a higher proof, it would've won, but the Handy took it. I'm sure glad I have 4 more of 'em left.So the VWFRR at least compares? I have yet to try it, but have been wanting to pick one up. After having the Handy though, it is going to be hard not to get one of those instead of the VW. The finish is very nice on this, but it is a pour a small glass and drink in a short period of time juice... if it sits for a long time in changes and not for the good.... JamesW
Started with some Old Fitz BIB today trying to beat back a sore throat that's trying to get a foothold. I may have to pull out the bigger guns in a bit and whack it with some Stagg.

theDon
Had a 4 bottle blind tasting with the wife tonight. Elijah Craig 12 yr 2005, Evan Williams 7 yr 90 proof, OGD 8yr 86 proof ND and New Weller SR 90 Proof. I picked all correctly and again proud of the wife. This one was tougher since all proofs were very close. Differences in proof are easier for her to discern. I prefer the '05 EC 12. just complex beyond belief and the rest.....well not a bad drink in the bunch. This was a tough tasting for me. I changed several times, but in the end chose the right ones. callmeox
Between the Rolex 24 and the All Star Shootout from Irwindale, this has been a great day of auto racing and a wonderful mid-winter diversion.Old Rip 10/107 is a little hot on entry tonight, but the sweetness and warmth are satisfying. T Comp
Opened and finally tasted, for the first time, a Wild Turkey 101 Russell's Reserve. I like the taste all right, but its smell, at least with this bottle is disjointed and a tad musty. Poured a side of my dwindling 1993 Rare Breed, for comparison, and tonight this is my preferred and more precious juice. BUT...... hold on here, after a pour of good old regular WT 101, the Russell's Reserve is now coming up roses.

nor02lei
I did have JDSS and ORVW 15 after going to a single malt tasting event last night. On the event there were 7 different Ardbegs (most of them uncut) and one blend of different smoky malts containing amongst others a little Ardbeg. 6 Ardbegs were taken half blind and than there were 2 more brands put in fully blind. I did like one of the fully blind best that was an 11 years uncut Ardbeg cask sample that the distillery had shipped to or local single malt club for free. As I haven’t had any single malt at home for many years I was satisfied to pick out 3 of the half blind samples and to pick out the blend as not being a single Ardbeg. This said both the Americans tasted better than any out of the 8 malts we had on the event.Leif

SMOWK
So the VWFRR at least compares? I have yet to try it, but have been wanting to pick one up. After having the Handy though, it is going to be hard not to get one of those instead of the VW.Oh the Van Winkle compares 100% percent, or more. I've found that they are quite different, yet very, very good. It's hard to pick a winner due to the differences. The VW is a bit thicker and more full bodied, even at the lower proof.
