awachatz
I have done a side by side on the two but it was many months ago...I have both open so perhaps I'll revisit over the holidays. I seem to remember that they were more alike then different but that I prefered the 124.2 as I felt it showed a little less heat and a little more burnt brown sugar. YMMV. I tasted them both neat and I've come to the conclusion that the 124.2 really shines at 107 proof so that's where I pretty much always drink it at. I need to cut down some of the 127.8 and do a side by side at 107. Let me know the results once you have done the side by side this holiday. Special Reserve
My heart was broken. I have rules and I generally follow them. One rule is not doing business with someone who rips off people. Last week PHC 10 was 79.99/bottle in a local store, earlier this evening they were 99.99/bottle and they had the nerve to tell me it was the state price which it is not.Of well, they sit on the store shelf. They also had several bottles of GTS at 99.99/bottle. BourbonBaron
They also had several bottles of GTS at 99.99/bottle.That is a rule that I have decided I am going to follow as well. Not knowing any better, I paid $100 for a GTS and a WLW this year at a chain of stores I was frequenting. I didn't realize they should be priced closer to $70-$80 as this was my first time purchasing them. I am glad I got them but I won't be going back to those places anymore. The same place also jacked their Van Winkle 12's up to $80 the other day. They didn't have any but that was what the handwritten price label on the shelf said. You could read under it where they had it previously marked to $55, which is what I paid for 3 of them at another one of their locations back in October.
