Pappy 20 for $199.99? I figured it had to be a mistake, but I was wrong, so it stayed in the locked cabinet. Crazy thing is, they also had a 23 and it was priced at $224. Everything else in the store was competitively priced so I don't know what the hell was going on with the 20.

Left a 2010 THH on the shelf this weekend. They were asking $50 for it and I regret not picking it up because I do enjoy this rye quite a bit.

This act seems inconsistent with GBS membership.

I must go back and read the charter again. I thought for sure it had a bylaw in there about "and the founder shall reimburse any member for bottle purchases of THH that are purchased for significantly less than retail".

The Membership's Standards Committee is investigating this, and other, transgressions by Mr. Gregory. There are also reports that this individual's monthly dues are in arrears, and that he has developed a fondness for drinking flavored Vodka, ala disgraced former President of GBS--Troyce. The investigation is not complete at this time, but I can assure you that if he is found to be in violation of any GBS code, we will act swiftly. GBS Rules of Participation are written for your safety and for that of your team. They are not flexible, nor am I. At this point, he is simply under Double Secret Probation. But, don't tell him that. By the way Robert, I'm afraid that you have misread or misinterpreted the bylaw in question. It reads: "The founder shall be reimbursed the difference by any member for bottle purchases of THH that are purchased for significantly less than retail, of which the retail value is determined by GBS Management".

I wish I had passed on an early 80's JW Dant BIB I found last week. Turned out to be funked. Yucky. :puke:

I left 2 WTRBs on the shelf today. An 01-97 and an 01-99. After bunkering my second 01-91 on Saturday, I figure it's best for domestic relations to leave those on the shelf for a few months. I don't think they're going anywhere.

Passed up a dozen or so OWA 107 bottled in '06. That juice was never one of my favorites but I know others are fond of the older bottling.

Also passed up a few JW Dant BiB bottled in '91. I got one to taste but left the other three. Turns out the one I tasted is a really good pour, particularly at $12, so I'll be going back for the other three.

Texas Friends,

I was just visiting and found 17 cases, yes cases! of Old Forrester Repeal Bourbon at 12.99 off I-35 in south San Marcos. I picked one up, because I was traveling, It was pretty good, I have some tasiting notes not written yet, and even better it comes with a Glencairen glass. Here is more information about this 2008 Limited edition release. http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9490

Or if you are just looking for a decent Glencairen glass its not much more than paying for the glass.

I can give you the exact location, if you want it feel free to PM me.

Passed up a Highland Park 30 yesterday. It's still calling my name so I may have to go back and get it.

While I did make a few purchases today, I also passed up a number of other bottles. I stopped into 6 stores and left behind:

  1. 3 bottles of Baby Saz, 2 bottles of THH 2011, 1 bottle of ER17 (2011 as well I believe), and 3 bottles of the WRMC Rye
  2. 1 bottle of OFBB 2011 (I picked up the other one they had)
  3. 1 bottle of PHC Golden Anniversary and 2 bottles of OFBB 2010
  4. 4 bottles of THH 2011
  5. 3 bottles of Rittenhouse Rye 25, 2 bottles of WTAS, 5 or 6 bottles of WT Tradition, and 5 bottles of PHC Golden Anniversary (one may have been from another release, I couldn't tell and was in a rush, I'll be back to check)
  6. 1 bottle of PVW15, 1 bottle of THH 2011, 2 bottles of OFBB 2011, and one bottle of ER17 2011

I passed up PHC 2010 Wheater and 2011 Cognac. They're still sitting there begging me to drop $75 each. I may cave soon.

Passed up a Distillers Masterpiece 18 year old cognac finished. They were asking $250. Probably not an unreasonable price based on its scarcity, but didn't want to drop that kind of coin today.

I passed on a bottle of Red Breast 15. I really wanted it, but I just couldn't justify the price for it right now.

Passed on 2 bottles of Rittenhouse 21 today. I've been wanting to try this, but at $185 a bottle, couldn't justify it.
