As always, I'm grateful for the insights you bring to this board.I'm working on my PhD in History right now and would be happy to see if I can turn up any of the work done by the UK graduate student you mentioned. If you PM me her name I can check if she filed an MA thesis or dissertation, and if they are available through interlibrary loan or digital distribution.Incidentally, a professor in my department, Lisa Jacobson, is working on a book called "Cultures of Drink: Alcohol's Quest for Legitimacy after Prohibition." She's a very skilled scholar and based on our conversations the project sounds quite interesting. I get the impression it will pay particular attention to American distillers.
