I think you hit the nail on the head. I am a Bulleit fan, but your description is perfect - good not great; had better for less and had worse for more. For me, this is just a good, standard, dependable bourbon. It won't blow you away, but I find it to be decent, and I usually drink it with a few ice cubes. I think you should give Bulleit Rye a try, if you haven't already. I do think it is better than its bourbon counterpart.

I'm drinking Weller SR before meeting up with a buddy for a few beers at a sports bar.

1980's VOB, a very interesting era for the brand.

Some of us were drinking Tom Moore's from the '70s, '80s and '90s (I believe they were) at Doug's a couple of weeks ago. The earliest had a markedly more antique flavor (a bit of char or creosote?). The newest had a fleeting but very strong plum wine character stamped over all other flavors for its first day. After the first day the middle and newest seemed very similar.

Did anyone else try these?

Roger

Just enjoying pours of AAA 10 year old and will probably finish the night with a pour of Abraham Bowman Rye. I hope the rumors are true that TPS have picked 2 more barrels to be released at cask strength as my bottle level keeps getting lower for some unknown reason.

OWA. It's very tasty, but does anyone else think it's a little hot?

Some Wild Turkey 8 year found recently in Chicago. Left a handle on the shelf b/c I didn't know what I was getting myself into. My fiance's favorite bourbon now ... so I really shouldn't be touching it!

Friend of mine from Chicago came up to pay off a debt from the Packers/Bears NFC championship game. He asked me what I can't get in Wisconsin and I told him anything High West would be interesting.

So now I'm drinking Bourye, and I must say that I'm really digging it. On my third pour as I "figure it out."

Having a simple night: EW1783 followed by Pure Kentucky. I'm thinking the EW wins out at half the price ...

Started with a big pour of THH 10', followed up by a 2 ice cubed pour of 101WT.

I had MM46 before dinner yesterday, PS uncut OESO after, JDSS with the rhubarb pie for dessert and the uncut 9 year Bowman rye late. The rye did find the spot best last night. Very spicy, with almost overwhelming cinnamon.

Enjoyed the Bulls victory last night with some ORVW 107, then poured some Blanton's in the fourth quarter once the win was in the bag. Paired both with some FFF Gumballhead -- Carlos apparently wasn't the only Boozer around.... [/lame]
