Earlier today I talked my neighbor into opening his WT Tradition and I brought over WTAS to compare. I was surprised how much more oak is present in the AS compared to the Tradition.

How was the tradition? I've been on the fence with it.....haven't pulled the trigger yet.

WLW '10. Pretty tasty stuff.

Spent the afternoon with the wife, the baby, and a good friend and his lady wife and enjoyed some Col. Taylor, Curtis/Hightower 4R Single Barrel, another very fine 4r SB, 2009 Mariage, and two of the recent Cork & Barrel Weller Antiques.

Yesterday was primarily a beer day but later in the evening had a few pours of the VW 10/90 from 2007..... very good, tons of vanilla. This one won't last long....

Four Roses 100th SB... easily one of the best pours I have ever had. The texture is so rich and luscious and the taste is heavenly.

I'm with you on the FR 100th. I don't exactly know what it is about that release, but it's my favorite of the FR special releases so far.

I had a pour of GTS 2010. I was putting leftovers into small bottles and had just enough GTS left for a decent pour. Had to do it. I'm thinking WTRB to follow.

PVW23 and ER17. The PVW23 is more concentrated all around, has more character, and is a thicker, denser pour. Drinking the ER17 afterwards, the ER17 by contrast, seemed light and had a corn syrup flavor, which eventually went away, which was surprising given my initial impression of the ER17 as a very woody drink. The PVW23 is extremely smooth, and as noted by others, the wood & aging is evident. I'm impressed with the PVW23.

Making it a KBD night. Had a Vintage 21 rye, now working on some Willett 8yr, and going to finish with a pour of Willett 17yr.

Surprisingly, I had a decent day at work today. It got even better when I got home. There was a package waiting for me. Thanks to a fellow member, I'm having a healthy pour of EW BIB. Cheers! Joe

I just got home from my daughter's high school graduation. I'm experiencing a range of emotions from elation to much sadness over this. I'm sorting it out with a generous pour of EC 12.

My baby girl is no longer a child. :) /:cry:

Started with a Weller SR and am now on a 4RSB.

That's a good way to start the evening. I'll join you with a pour from the same family, OWA.

Sitting out in the back yard listening to the Braves on the radio. Spotted my first lightnin' bugs of the season. Ahhhh, Summer... Really enjoying an Old Charter BIB '64-'71 vintage. The cinnamon notes are really jumping out of this tonight. Quite nice.

Save some of that for the 10th! I'm looking forward to it and already picking out some bottles to bring!

By the way, I did find an old post of yours referring to "HH juice"...I guess you weren't always the "anti-juice" guy! haha

Congratulations to you! Getting a child to that point is an accomplishment these days. You deserve the pour of your choice!

Tried some OGD 114 for the first time tonight. Good stuff! Followed that up with Pure Kentucky XO. It's a high-proof night. Maybe I should slow down ...

I saw what you said about the OGD 114 in the "what did you purchase" thread. What do you think about Pure Kentucky XO? I think it's pretty tasty stuff, but I don't see much mentioned about it on here.

I enjoy the XO, but admit that I don't find it to be very complex. I can pick out the individual grains and some oak, but not much else. But, sometimes that's all that I want. It takes me back to the fermentation rooms at the distilleries, and that ain't a bad thing!

Your thoughts?

I agree with you - I don't think it's a terribly complex bourbon that makes you sit and think about it, but I do think it tastes good and is a smooth bourbon for the proof. Not one that I visit often, but I'm never too disappointed when I do.
