Finished off a bottle of Blanton's and then had a small pour of OCPR. The latter was better but both were enjoyable.

I had a couple of generous pours of OWA last night, followed by WTKS.

Tonight I am finishing off an open bottle of Old Charter 10.

Makers, followed by WT12 Split Label, followed by EW BIB. Everything tasted pretty good tonight after a Braves win.

I had Saz junior before dinner yesterday and OTBIB 68-76 after. They both tasted good and the old-timer seems to approve for every time I pour from it.

As I make dinner, some Russell's Reserve 10/90--this bottle is only getting better, and I am learning it better--followed by some RittBIB.

Grillin' filets on the grill with a nice pour of Maker's Mark. Folks, this is a beautiful whiskey. Fabulous nose. Wonderfully balanced over the palate. Soft finish. Not, "no finish". Rather, a "Soft finish". Gently clear your throat upon finishing your sip, and you'll discover that wonderful finish is still there. It just doesn't up and kick you in the throat. Just, wonderful. I know it can seem...pale, when compared to all of the smash-mouth, uber-proof, high-rye offerings that we in the enthusiast world have seen, and enjoyed, of late. But...but, this is really, really good bourbon. And, it delivers exactly what it was designed to do. I will never understand the beatdown it takes...

Poured a healthy glass of 4R1B to accompany me while I grill up some salmon.

A couple snifters of Maker's 46 with some BBQ'd pork steaks for supper.

It has been a bit since I had any bourbon. I've been coming home in the evenings after work and drinking gin and tonics. But since we got rained out today, when supper-time rolled around I wasn't too hot to indulge in my first love, bourbon.

After a few days off whiskey I started this evening with Jameson 12 and then moved to a couple pours of ETL 15yr. Both are light and sweet but the ETL is deeper, richer, more complex and just a better pour for me tonight.

YMMV

Nursing what will be several pours of Old Fitz BIB. I just got this and I think I'm going to like it.

Went with some VSOF (BHC) and OCPR last night. The OCPR was much more to my liking but the VSOF may have picked up some off flavors due to an issue with its cork.

The lineup tonight after a few dry days included: BHC VSOF, SW Special Reserve, 1792 SB-Randy Blank, OFBB 2007 and KC Binny's SB. They all impressed and were hitting their high notes.

Great post. I'm a fan of MM and always have a bottle at home. It's one of my favorite <$25 pours.

I have to say that when I got back into bourbon I had no preconceived notions about MM. My only complaint with it is that it seems a little over priced for what it brings to the table.

Oh, what bourbon am I drinking... eventually got around to opening the McKenna SB that I picked up today... very tasty and the 100 proof is just right. Too bad EWSB isn't bottled at a higher proof.

Shared some 60's/70's era OGD 86 with a visiting buddy: my goodness I loved the suspended ginger spice finish on this rare treat! Then we hit up Longman and Eagle in Chicago and I treated myself to a Willet 17 yr single barrel. Holy mother! This stuff lit up my taste buds just shy of a fire, a full 137 proof. I've never had bourbon with such a pure center giving off wild, spicy cinnamon notes, not subdued so much as tempered by creeping from below rather than hitting you over the head. I'm a true believer of this Willet.

On the waiter's recommendation (going on the pot-distilled theme started with the Willets), I tried the Whipper Snapper Oregon Whiskey. I think it's aged only 2 years old and this untamed whiskey brought a lot of soul to the table and went perfectly with the duck liver appetizer. Next came the Knappogue Castle Irish. I was recommended Red Breast 12 first, which I believe I would have enjoyed a bit more than the Knappogue, but I wanted something I hadn't tried before. The Knappogue was very tasty, but not assertive enough to keep up with the heavy meal. I ended the meal with my first taste of Lagavulin 16. I'm glad I tried before buying; not what I'm looking for in a scotch.

Now I'm home nursing an OWA. I believe next will be Whistle Pig then sleep. But you never know.

As noted elsewhere, PHC 2010 and PVW15.

I'm a big advocate of bourbon in the AM. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with employment.

Here's looking forward to retirement.

Started off the night with a pour of Jameson, then had small pours of Beam 100/86 1975, WTRB, and Lot B to finish the night.

I'm retired so every now and then I put a snort in the morning cup of coffee. Tonight I am nursing several pours of Old Fitz BIB. I have never tried this before and I like it. It's not up to the Weller's but that's ok. I think this will make a good value pour.
