While making dinner I had a vatting of two ND OGD's, an 86 and a BIB. The BIB wasn't the world beater that the other BIB I had was, so I combined it with a buttery 86proof I had. It was very nice. And kudos to BOTTY Dr. Gillman for the suggestion.

Had a pour of ND OT this evening. My first time with this particular bit of history and I'm VERY grateful for the opportunity. The flavor was like nothing else I've had. Thanks, Birdman!

Glad I could help.....

Still having several large pours of Old Fitz BIB. Glad I ordered a case of 1 liter bottles. I feel that this and AAA 10 year old will become daily value pours for me.

Haven't had any Stagg since summer hit so going to have a pour of that then probably some PHC10.

I did bring pocket bottles of EC 12 and Rittenhouse BIB to a 3 day (Saturday-Monday) cruise to Riga. They tasted good and on Monday morning there was only about 5cl EC and 4 cl BIB left so I did a Gillman out of them. A bit surprisingly it tasted very good before dinner on Monday night.

And by the way. How come this spring thread is going on? As its full summer here it should be in most places.

Thx for that Leif, it sounds good actually, since EC 12 for some seems to lack something so the rye body of the Ritt will make up for that.

If you have time, perhaps for different thread, I'd be interested in your impressions of Riga.

Some of the Spring 2011 Lot B. I could be going crazy, but I think it's a lot better than last year's release.

Weller 12 for now. If the Yankees game keeps going like this, I'll probably have much more.

Started the evening with a generous pour of ORVW 107 and chased it with EW1783. Should have been the other way around. I like the EW, but the lack of kick is very apparent after a bout with Old Rip.

Started with a pour of EWSB2000 then finished off with a ORVW107 before bed. Night!

Tonight I am having several pours of AAA 10 year old. Don't know yet if I will change to something else but the night is still young.

Four Roses Barrel Strength 2009

Lots of flavor and barrel goodies in this pour.

I think I have to buy some more of this.

I finally cracked open my bottle of Col. E.H. Taylor. The good news: I really enjoy its mellowness. There's very very few off notes on this bourbon, and the 100 proof is pulled off with real finesse. It's no knock-your-socks off bourbon by any stretch, but it offers a pleasing simplicity rare in today's bottlings. There's a cleanness to it that actually brings to mind the ND OGD I'm working on; not that they share many tasting notes, just more of a lack of bitterness that usually makes its way into a bourbon at some point. I've had a handful of pours over a few nights, and nothing about it bores me... yet.

The bad news: I'll miss it when it's gone, so it would make sense to throw a bottle or two in the bunker, but I don't want to pay another $75 for it.

I'm looking forward to getting my first bottle of this this weekend...I've heard a lot of good things about it!

Sorry I did misprint Gary. It was EC 18 with an actual age of 20 years, so it was old mixed with young, beside bourbon mixed with rye.

Ah, well still, the age of the EC 18 should blend well with the youth of the Rittenhouse in the sense of the result ending up in the middle. And EC bourbon is simply rye with less rye. You did good.

And now I'm thinking: would a couple of drops of Madeira put the final touches on it? :)

Pour of Knob Creek SBR. Nice pour for $4. Helps to know the bartender.
