ERSB. I think this stuff is really good, but I've heard it differs substantially from the pre-BT stuff. Can anyone tell me how the older bottlings compare?

Old Fitz BIB DSP 16, HH uncut barrel sample at 144 proof, OFBB 2002, Ritt BIB...I have to admit Heaven Hill has the ability to produce some of the best bourbon I've tasted...I just wish they'd bottle it a BP more often or allow for SB purchases at BP.

That is a testament to your young and undamaged liver my ever enthusiastic friend.

Small sips, lots of water and a food break in the middle is what let me get through it. Plus I may have passed on a few of the pours. I wasn't sick but I was moving a little slow all morning.

WT 81, neat, while watching the pre race show for the Belmont.

Could be a good race, it's the first time since '05 that the KY Derby winner and the Preakness winner are in the race.

Also the top 7 finishers of the Derby are in today's race.

Back on topic, I find WT 81 to have a lot of flavor, it suits me.

I'm at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio right now, sitting on the patio behind our room in the lodge. I may have accidentally smuggled some AAA 10 y/o into the lodge and may be accidentally sipping it now, while listening to hits of the 80s, 90s and today blaring over the radio. At least the bourbon is good.

Well Josh I am having several pours of AAA 10 year old tonight also. It seems to be hitting the spot well. I may stick with it till I turn in or have a nip or two of Old Fitz BIB.

W E L L E R Baby! Started with the SR 7 yr., moved on to the Everett's SR SB and then the Weller 12. I've determined I must have an open bottle of Weller at all times ready for pour.

A friend of mine and I had a little sampling night. We started with Old Forester Birthday 2010, and went through Echo Spring, Charter 10yr, AA, OGD 114, and ORVW 107. I bought the OF 2010 for the evening, and my friend brought the ES, OC, and AA. The OGD and ORVW were from my existing collection. We were very surprised by the ES being a very drinkable bottom shelf bottling.

Healthy pours of BT and FRSB with a fat cigar to toast our newborn child! About five weeks early, but all seems well!

Last night I was drinking 2009 Birthday Bourbon and I have to agree with SmokinJoe on this one, it is really good. I don't see where the disdain for it came from as I find none of those off notes previously mentioned. Feel free to call me crazy but I think it is on of the better BBs.

Just a few short pours of EC18 last evening... the more I drink of this, the more I like it. The current bottles (Feb92 - March92) have been excellent..

I find that it hits the sweet spot for me right after a meal. It's just right for these hot summer evenings!

Congrats five weeks early! Can't think of a better whiskey to toast a new life coming into the world than 4RSB. Sometimes I will just sit and sniff the 4RSB in my glass for an hour before drinking. Sometimes I do the same to my 10 m/o daughter's head. I never knew how good bourbon could get until I had 4RSB and I never new how good life could get until I had my own child.

I go back and forth on this bottle. When I first opened it, I did get some of those off notes, but once it settled down it got much better. I think the 2008 OFBB is one of the best bourbons I've ever had, so I think 2009 looked bad in comparison.

But of course some people have superior palates and are better able to detect such flaws. They are born with superior palates and must tell the rest of us what is good and what is not. It's not just a matter of different tastes, you know.

I recently found me another bottle of my favorite Birthday Bourbon, the 07, so I'm more at ease tonight with a generous pour from my diminishing open bottle.

The heat broke... it's glorious: sunny and in the mid seventies. Sitting outside and enjoying some Rit BiB.

On the road this weekend, but I brought some VRO Heaven Hill 8yo and I am enjoying a toast to the NBA champion Mavericks.

Thank you, Dirk!

2010 Larue, Pappy 15, and Old Fitz BIB 1993.

"Maaaavelous. Simply Maaaavelous." ala Geoffrey Holder in the 7UP commercials from many years ago.

Also: Congrats on the newborn Duff! Cheers to you and a happy healthy family. :woohoo: Joe
