A mixture of ND OGD's 86 and BIB in a Manhattan with Dolin sweet vermouth and Fee Bros Bitters: it's great!

Just watched the Thunderboomers move through, with our sheltie cowering at my feet, and a tall pour of Benchmark Single Barrel in my glass. This old Benchmark SB is wonderful whiskey. :yum: I think I heard the stock for this ended up as Blanton's, after they discontinued it? Well then, this is the best Blanton's I've ever had...

Heading off to France tomorrow, so I've started the evening with a Baby Saz, and have moved on to a deep pour of 2009 4R Mariage. Not sure where I'll go next...maybe Blanton's "Maison du Whisky"?

Tonight is an ER101 Lawrenceburg night for the first 2 pours. Got the first one on my desk now :)

On a sad note, , I have just these 2 pours and a pint bottle left :(

Very good way to start the evening!

When did they discontinue the Benchmark SB?

Jack, I think it was around 2000/2001. I remember hearing that soon after BT discontinued it, it won an award in some International whiskey competition. I don't know how long it was produced, though.

I've decided to do an Old Charter vertical to test whether or not my local retailers private bottling of Jefferson's 15 year is, in fact, OC like my palate thought.

I've lined up the entire 2011 BT Exerimentals, OC 12 yr and the Jefferson's private bottling.

I'm having a 2011 BTEC ('91) in support of your efforts. Be sure to report back your finding.

I may have consumed a little too much :drinking:........but I definitely find the notes found in the private bottling to be on par with the rest of the Charter offerings. Even though the other offerings are batches and the Jefferson's is a single barrel, I conclude that it is definitely close enough.

I tasted this bottling blind about a week ago and picked it as an OC barrel then.

I have now moved on to Handy '10 to cap off this Wednesday evening.

Kahns RHF. She was tasty while she lasted.

Glad I got to sample the free goodness in that bottle.

Tasty stuff!

This evening after a day in the hot sun, it was 103 here today, I've settled in for several pours of AAA 10 y/o. It's been over 100 degrees here for the past two weeks. Is winter close?

Time for some 4R 2010 limited.

Joining Ian with a pour of 4R 2010 Limited SmB while in the Gazebo.

Prior to that I had a pour of EWSB 2001. Trying to figure out what will be next.

I will probably end my night with a healthy pour of ORVW 10/107

Sounds good, but I'm going to one up you with a PVW 15...I've been craving that all evening.

Finishing up a long night with a fat pour of my old standby, ERSB.

Cool here, 54º, full moon and the coyotes are screaming in the woods. Glad to end this long day on such a beautiful and musical note.

Cheers!

I had MM46 before dinner yesterday and Rittenhouse 23 and handy 2010 after. I must say that both the ryes tasted a hell of a lot better than the makers.

Very nice - love that pewter top, and would love to get some Weller 12 around here.

Having some JPS 17 yo - barrel #7 ...

What a coincedence, I almost opened a bottle of Jeff Prez 18yo but I thought I'd go with the WLW 12 instead.

I like to save the best for last and I made the right choice, the WLW 12 has a great nose but it is watered down to much and not a lot going on for the palate.
