Not all bourbons, but I started with El Jimador, then Jameson, OGD 114, and finally Gentleman Jack.

I think my tastebuds are burned out!

Started the evening with pours of Jameson 12 and Ginger...then a pour of JW Double Black on the rock...now the night starts WTRB 1997.;)

Heretic! Jameson 12 w/Ginger..... A double of JW Black? I'm guessing you were at a bar?

Haha...i know that's way outside of my normal pours...I decided that I wanted a cocktail vs a pour so the Jameson was in order...then I walked over to my neighbors house and he just got back from a cruise and wanted me to try the JW Double Black so who was I to say no....I'm back in the pocket though with a WTRB followed by a ETL 15yr SB pour! :)

It's been hot here for the last several weeks temps reaching over 103 everyday and no end in sight. I started the night with a pour of Eagle Rare 17 that a friend gifted me along with a Cohiba on the porch after sunset. They were both good. Going to finish the night with AAA 10 y/o.

Bourbon highball with bitters, made with WT101 to start, then two pours of '06 WT Russell's Reserve 10/90 while watching the new Alice in Wonderland with my family.

Have a good evening all!

Started with comparison tasting this afternoon between S-W Rebel Yell-1983, S-W Special Reserve-1995 and S-W Old Fitz Prime-1985. After dinner saw RR 90 proof against RR 101, brought down to 90 proof. The RR 101 was supreme. A leisurely bike ride with the wife, on a beautiful night here, is being followed with WLW-2006, damn is it good, and a finale of ER 101-Frankfort, not too shabby either.

Funny Reid...I almost went with a Ritt BIB and Ginger but instead decided on the VW trail...had ORVW 10/107, lot b, and Pappy 15. :)

Reasons to celebrate:

My daughter accepted a faculty staff position at NYU. She's thrilled as am I.

It's Father's Day!

Having a very short taste of Old Fitzgerald BiB. Yum! Yum!

Would like more but later this morning I'm going into work for a couple of hours.

That sounds like a Great Day !!!! Which SW did you prefer????

I did a 3 way as well...

ER17 2008

Jeff18

Birdhouse Wheat (a 50/50 blend od PVW15 and PVW20)

The BHW was fantastic, followed by the ER, the Jeef18, althought really good, was the loser in this fight....

The 95 Special Reserve followed by the 85 Prime with the 83 Rebel Yell pulling up the rear. I posted some notes in the "handles" thread being motivated by Craig/ craigthom not being impressed with the Rebel Yell.

I'll agree as far as it is my least favorite of the S-Ws I've had. Mine is from 1983 and 86.8 proof. I just had an impromptu taste between it and a S-W Special Reserve from 1995 with their similar proof levels. The Rebel Yell is harsher, grainier and even more sour in after taste to the Special Reserve which has more classic S-W praline candy sweetness and balance through the end. Same thing for a 1985 OF 80 proof Prime I also just threw in to the tasting. A nice reaffirmation on how the master distillers can craft different profile tastes (as for Rebel Yell and its proclaimed "Southern Sour Mash ... Especially for THE DEEP SOUTH") from barrels holding the same mash bill. S-W whiskey is best at 100 proof or above but I'm still looking forward to choking down  the S-W Primes and Reserves I have.

4RsmB - fathers day gift after brunch with the in laws.

Waiting for the rain to pass so B8 of a 2-2 tie can start up again. Radar says another 40 minutes or so.

So far today it has been WR Maple finish...yuck. Jeffersons 18...yuck, tastes like soil. Time to start drinking things I like for Father's day. Now on to Binny's FR1B OBSK. Yummy. I'm thinking Angel's Envy next and then on to some sort of Van Winkle product.
