Tonight I am finishing off an open bottle of Blanton's then I will get a new one from the bunker. For a nightcap I'll finish with a pour Abraham Bowman Rye.

I've been denying myself even a sip for the past 12 days due to a combination of Work Hell and illness. Work Hell should end tomorrow, and I'm hosting a poker game Saturday -- I've got a bad feeling about what's going to happen to my liver over this span, and how bad my card playing will be this weekend....

Started of with OF Signature, then ER101 Lawrenceburg, then finished off the evening with WTRB.

Finishing off my first ever bottle of PVW15 with this big pour I have sitting here right now. Luckily I have 11 bottles of it in the bunker so no cause for concern.

I adore everything about OGD114, but I will continue to badmouth Beam.

 I know, I know, I'm hoping that I can hold out, though...:D

OGD 114. I can never say a bad word about Beam, simply because of this whiskey. If I have in the past, I apologize...The 114 is a spectacular bourbon, at a ridiculously affordable price.

Amen, brother. I love OGD 114 and the price can't be beaten. I also enjoyed an 8 year old/80 proof Beam from the early seventies a few days ago and wish that standard Beam white was anywhere near as good. Despite the low proof, that old Beam sure tasted delicious.

We put a nice lick on a mid-sixties bottle of Walker's Deluxe last night while watching the Bulls game and Gentleman Jack made an appearance too. The GJ ain't too bad actually, even though I privately sighed when it was gifted to me not long ago. I think it'll make a fine bottle to pull out by the fire pit this summer, as my not-so-regular bourbon-drinking friends seemed to enjoy it quite a bit as well.

Had three pretty good pours last night - I always find these to be dependable:

OF Signature

VOB BIB

WTRB

Your opinion of the band Flipper not withstanding, you're a man after my own heart! Three of my all-time favorites right there!

There's nothing wrong with that, if you've got more favorites on hand then reach for one of those. When you get time I do recommend the EC12, I've only given it one or two samplings so far, but I liked those, but I suppose I could give it a deeper look to see what, if any, nuances I pick up from it.

Allergies have been really affecting my palette the last week. Trying to get back in the swing of things with some VOB BIB. It's working, VOB has never tasted so good!

Opened up a new Blanton's so I will be having several pours from it tonight.

Revisiting the Weller Special Reserve, will also take a look at the EC12 a little later.

Polished off the last of a OWA, now I'm thinking OGD 114, as inspired by the comments above. That one lets my lips know I'm sipping bourbon to be sure. Love it.

My sinuses are pretty congested still even after the other symptoms of last week's cold left me. Had five beers at dinner, so that probably damaged my palate as well. I've been fine drinking KCSBR straight, but had a sip of Booker's tonight and found it too hot. Settled in for a long pour of Corner Creek, which either isn't to my liking anymore or suffered from my current palate-addled state. Not much of a there there, which isn't my recollection.

Stopped for the night in Indy on the way to the sampler. Gary, Dan and I enjoyed an older 200 ml of JW Dant BIB as a nightcap last night. Joe

Had a pour of KCSBR with a nice New York strip while helping my parents celebrate their 60th. Now I'm kicking back with some Old Charter 10.

Unbelievable selection at Doug's house...here are a few:

PVW 23

Willet 22 yr. rye

ETL 90th

Weller SR 12 yr

Tom Moore (from the 80's?)

Old Fitz BIB DSP-16

Mixture of Barrel Aged Stuff

Many more tings that I can't remember.

Many thanks to Doug for opening up his home to us!

A quiet, chill Friday night here. Started it off with some JPS 17, took a break and had a nip of ETL, and now finishing it all off with a tiny pour of Stagg.

Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel.

This has to be the smoothest bourbon I have ever had, hands down.

Goes down like water.

Seriously, is there any bourbon smoother than this? Dangerously drinkable.

A gigantic bee just flew into my room. Must of smelled the honey.

Kinda freaked out about the bee though. I can't find the damn thing!

Had a nice big pour of Makers 46 neat. No complaints. Definitely felt that cinnamon that at least one poster here has mentioned before -- curse you, power of suggestion!

Now into my first-ever taste of Blanton's, a Binny's bottling. My tasting notes would simply read "sublime."

Started last night with some Van Winkle 10yo/90 while cooking on the grill, followed by some Basil Hayden. Rounded out with a Jim Beam White and Coke during dinner.
