It's the only bourbon I've had so far that I can't drink neat.
unclebunk
Four Roses Yellow while watching hoops last night. It's not one of my favorites but goes down well enough, though it's hardly in the league of FRsB and FRSB, IMO.
Lucas Jackson
I opened a OWA 7/107 that has been waiting patiently. OWA is one of my favorites, and this is my first with the age statement. Superb pour, I am looking forward to drinking the rest of this bottle.

cigarnv
Just finished up a pour of the Vintage 17... decent little wheater that is a very easy drinker. Much improved over the last Vintage 17 rye based bourbon.

Virus_Of_Life
Fighting Cock 8 Year old, it is such a shame they let this one go. I wouldn't even recognize the current 6 year old compared to this phenomenol stuff!

I wouldn't even recognize the current 6 year old compared to this phenomenol stuff! What's the year on the bottle, i.e. when did they stop with the age statement? I like the current Fighting Cock, I'm sorry I missed the 8.Matter of fact, I'm darn bummed I missed many of those HH age statement bottles, namely the Very Old Heaven Hill 10. mosugoji64
Punishing myself with a three-ounce pour of the Kirkland Beam product. It's been open for more than a month, and it's still all oak and burn. :hot:Really? I find it a little hot, but nothing a bit of water doesn't fix. And while it has a definite rye profile, the finish is sweet rather than spicy and dry. I've rather enjoyed this one. Anyone else have thoughts? Parkersback
Speaking of ever changing expressions, I'm having my initial pours of RR90. It's a nice bourbon, but almost too nice: it is way softer and sweeter and friendlier than I expected a WT product to be.But with no expectations, it's actually quite nice. Nearly a dessert bourbon, I'd say, what with the sweetness and easiness of it. It still has a decent finish, however.
mosugoji64
Cracked a bottle of Pure Kentucky. It's pretty good, but I probably won't buy another bottle after reading the posts on this site by KBD's reps regarding bourbon fans. Too bad ...

I don't find it as hot as others around here have. Not sure if it's due to a good batch, or maybe I have a high burn tolerance? Don't know but I've been loving the Bookers lately. tehbeardman
Cracked the WT101 Rye last night. Without a side by side comparison, The nose between it and normal WT101 almost exactly the same. Liked the Rye finish on the WT Rye. Looking forward to spending some more time with it  .

And while it has a definite rye profile, the finish is sweet rather than spicy and dry. I've rather enjoyed this one. Anyone else have thoughts?I'm still letting mine sit open after my initial pour a couple of weeks ago. I did get some up front burn, but as you mention, it's nothing that a little water (or a couple of ice cubes) won't fix. I found it to be a decent bourbon at $20/liter, although it will definitely be in the mixing bin. All in all, it's not a bad way to spend $20, in my opinion. SMOWK
Neat all the way. I don't find it as hot as others around here have. Not sure if it's due to a good batch, or maybe I have a high burn tolerance? Don't know but I've been loving the Bookers lately.Had some Bookers at a bar not long ago. $6 each for a double shot in a snifter. Couldn't beat the price so I took down the rest of the bottle, a little more than half. It doesn't look like they'll be getting any more...boo.Adding water ruins it for me. I like the current Fighting Cock, I'm sorry I missed the 8.Matter of fact, I'm darn bummed I missed many of those HH age statement bottles, namely the Very Old Heaven Hill 10.They didn't remove the age statement they dropped it to 6 year and changed the label, but honestly the profile seems a bit different to me as well. Nowhere near the depth in the 6 year. I believe they changed it some time in the late 90s but not sure... Oh and yes the disappearance of the Very Rare Old HH 10 year Bib is a major loss as well. I am amazed that one hasn't even shown up as a dusty find since. They all must have been snapped up immediately.
Josh
Waiting for the Ant Man to come and sipping on a Bourbon & Benedictine made with Four Roses yellow label. It's ok, but I think it works best with Weller Antique. Something about the sweetness of the Weller goes nicely with the herbs & spices of the Benedictine. Kinda like Chicken & Waffles. I usually use a 4:1 bourbon to Benedictine ratio.
