nor02lei Posted May 6, 2011 Share Posted May 6, 2011 I did have 2 rums before dinner today. Diplomatico reserve exclusive from Venezuela and 19 years 1988 vintage Enmore still Demerara from Guyana. Very big variation with the Venezuela being very, very sweet, chewy, with lots of vanilla, but also a very artificial flavor profile. The Enmore is light, appeasing and do taste a lot of rum and arrack. It had a typical Beam nose (Beam Black, Baker, OGD type) and the taste was similar to those but more complex. I couldn't really say I tasted rice or the other non-traditional grain, but there was good length and finish. Kamryn Dawn Wilhite 8 pounds 15 3/4 ounces and 20 inches long. Baby and mother doing well. I now have 6 granddaughters and 1 grandson. I put on some good music, (thanks Cliff) and jumped right in. Done, all is good. No leaks, new switch/electric works, and it's quiet as a mouse. :cool: Plus, the wife is a happy camper. :woohoo: Celebrating with a pour of Pappy 15. Not a bad day so far. Given my need to control my carbohydrate intake, I probably never will.For the Derby, I had a great bourbon on crushed ice. It was very disappointing. This morning I had the same bourbon (PHC 2010) neat boy does it deliver neat.I'm amazed at the difference in the bourbon when the style of presentation is changed. A silky soft bourbon with a big clean flavor and a firm barley underpinning, probably a 19th century interpretation of the style. It doesn't get any better. My $21/bottle source in tax-free Delaware stopped carrying it and I can only get it at one place for $28.60/bottle. At that price, I haven't bought it in quite a while.
