Opening my Kirkland Signature from Costco. Tastes an awful lot like a 107 proof JB Black to me.

Just put my glasses on and read the bottle. 103 proof. Hell getting old and not being able to read what you are drinking without glasses. After another drink it has a Baker's flavor to it for sure.

Settling in for the night with a pour of VW lot b...I like this pour a lot I just wish it had a little more proof...100 proof would be perfect IMO. Either way it does show that BT can make a nice wheated bourbon!

I agree. Everytime I drink ORVW10/107 or PVW 15, it makes me wish that all of my other wheated offerings were 100+ proof.

With all this talk, I'm pouring a PVW 15.

Had a couple of pours of ERSB while visiting family today, followed by OWA and ORVW while watching a movie with the wife this evening. A good day ...

Some early 80's Dickel 90 proof. Rounded, buttery/silky/nutty, good length. Much better than the current version in my opinion.

Gary

Gary.... while in Kentucky last year Timothy offered up some Dickel from the past... 70's or 80's.. I don't recall but in any case this was some of the best whiskey I had ever tasted. You nailed the description perfectly... Possibly Timothy can refresh my memory as to the year and expression.

I can find just about any dusty I want in the DC area but never come across Dickel....

Old Fitz BIB while watching the UEFA Championship League Finals yesterday. Manchester United looked miserable but the whiskey was just fine!

I did go to a weekend arrangement that my work made yesterday with some spawning and dinned afterwards. I did bring an ORVW 10/107 from 2002 and had a couple of pours before dinner. I did offer some small pours to several other that of cause are novice on American whiskey and they all liked it, even if some thought it would need water. A good dinner and as there wasn’t any good beer in the bar I had several different good cognacs, calvados and one tequila. Back home after this nice event I had an OESO from PS. For the time I liked this pour very much and I am almost down to half. It certainly needed oxidation to open up.

BIB Fitz D.S.P. 16, released in 1992 - with Coke. I drink a bourbon and Coke about once a year - with the DSP 16 it's fiendishly good.

Yesterday I ran into a '96 Wild Turkey 750ml 80 proof with the brown label at a little package store.

Got it for 14 bucks.

I'm surprised how rich and tasty it is for 80 proof.

yum.

Spent the afternoon with the wife, the baby, and a good friend and his lady wife. Watched a little of the race (what a shocking ending!) and enjoyed some Col. Taylor, Curtis/Hightower 4R Single Barrel, another very fine 4r SB, 2009 Mariage, and two of the recent Cork & Barrel Weller Antiques.

The OWA's are terrible, whatever you do, DON'T go to Covington and get any. If you bought some but haven't opened them yet, don't bother. Instead, give them to me. I'll make sure they're disposed of properly.

I watched a great F1 GP of Monaco and then fell asleep during the Indy 500. Watching cars go in a circle just doesn't do it for me.

Just poured a Col. Taylor.

I actually kinda feel the same way. When I was growing up in Indianapolis, the race was blacked out (and I think it still is) so we had to listen to it on the radio. It was nice, because we would just have it playing in the background the whole afternoon. We'd do our homework, or do chores or sip on a coke or something and drop in or out as we chose.

When I was at O's this afternoon it was a similar deal. It was on in the TV room and I half listened in as we drank and chatted in the kitchen while the wives hung out by the tv and chatted as the baby crawled around. It was nice.

It's definitely good for background noise/entertainment. The race is blacked out on TV in Indy? What sense does that make?

Earlier today I talked my neighbor into opening his WT Tradition and I brought over WTAS to compare. I was surprised how much more oak is present in the AS compared to the Tradition.
