This thread is so Pappy heavy, I feel embarassed posting my meager pick up. BUT, I had never seen a bottle of Weller 12 on shelves so I was super excited to see my local had gotten in 3, which I scooped up along with 2 OF 100 proof. Really pleased to get into these!

No reason to feel embarrassed at all...those are two really nice pours...Weller 12 is one of my standard pours...love me some Weller 12! Watch out for BBQ+Bourbon in KC though...he's a bourbon hound...;)

I was just telling a friend last night about my interest in picking up the Bulleit Rye. Guess I'll be doing that today when I make my run to Binny's.

Last night I bought a bottle of Russell's Reserve 90 and some scotch, I know, not appreciated here but I enjoy a dram from time to time.

Wow hectic1, I may have to buy some of those from you on ebay since I can never find any in my area.

My next question is what do you do for a job, cause this and your bunker most people could never afford. I thought id spent too much with my 12 PVW15's, 1 20 and 3 PHC 10yrs in a trip. I wont be buying anymore for the rest of the year. Damn, the cases are what were eye opening. Never seen someone pull that off.

Just so everyone knows I'm not being a total hog here...I had the opportunity to secure a large amount of this based on the relationships I've made at a number of stores...translation...the amount of money I've spent there has afforded me this opportunity.

I'm only keeping about a case for myself...the rest has been shared with other SB.com members who couldn't get any themselves...hopefully the bourbon gods will continue to shine on me.

You're certainly welcome to do that if you choose...most of the bottles that I had planned on parting with are gone already as people love the Pappy 15 and it's in short supply.

Are these really ending up on ebay? Sorry if I missed this somewhere else.

Ain't that the truth, I'm holding off on opening the one bottle I got last fall until I can find another.

Some have...what's the problem with that? ;)

honestly? the problem is you are taking bottles that are near impossible for many to get, off the shelves, all so you can profit off of it.

not to get into a debate, but since you asked.

To get back on topic (sorry about the side convo)

for the 7 PVW15 I have painstakingly acquired, I will be enjoying them for as many years as I can. Hopefully I can find a few more (retail) to bunker.

Nothing else new since my last haul, but I do have a Vintage 23 waiting at PS. As soon as Abraham Bowman BS comes back in I will have it shipped out!

I'm allowing people to get them who don't have access to them am I not? And for the profit part, are the retailers, distributors, and distillers making a profit? Do you take issue with them? Do you take issue with everyone who sells stuff on ebay or only Pappy 15 collectables? If so, there are a long list of people on this site that you should take issue with...some are even moderators here. What does my time, gas, phone calls, etc cost...let me guess...I should do it all for free? The kicker in all this as you've actually acquired more for yourself then I have...I've shared 26 of the 32 Pappy 15's and all 7 of the Pappy 20's with people who couldn't get them. Who's the horder now? Enjoy your Pappy that you painstakingly acquired...a stork dropped mine off at my door! ;)

Quite the eye opening discussion, I must say.

Rationalizations aside, multiple wrongs do not make a right.

So you're say that I commited a wrong by getting some Pappy 15's and sharing them with SB.com members? You've never shared anything with members before Scott?

I am not a licensed distillery, wholesaler/distributor or retailer so I have no profit motive for my actions.

Full disclosure: Some guy offered me 10 x retail for a bottle one night on the gazebo so I sold it to him.

Edit:

(This was actually in response to a question and not an odd non-sequitir until some postings above disappeared. I admit that it sounds pretty high-horsey by itself.)
