Haven't had too much this week, but on Tuesday I did have a big pour of OWA 7yr, and it really hit the spot. Got a lot of vanilla and maple from it (more than I have in the past) and I think that it has really benefited from being open and sitting a while.

A couple of nights ago I tried the PHC 2011 and it was pretty good, but I think I would have liked it more at a higher proof. Very easy to drink at 100 proof.

Last night I picked up a bottle of 2011 WLW and had a very small pour. At 133+ proof I was worried that it would be hot, but it was surprisingly good neat. There were some great flavors in there.

EWSB 1996....such good stuff. Sweet caramel nose, some spice....gentle on the tongue...smooth....not incredibly complex but good in what it delivers.

Old Forester BIB from about 1994. Love it. Black cherry, plum, vanilla etc. Did I say I love it.

Tonight was an impromptu tasting with a few friends. In no particular order:

GTS '11

OWA CnB#50

Ritt BIB

Jameson 18

ORVW 10/107

All solid, but the OWA & VW were hitting the sweet spot tonight.

I don't think wheaters can take that much water and still have full flavor.

Last night was exactly 1.5 ounces of ODD 114 as I was too tired and relaxed to get up and pour me another. Now today I know I'll be enjoying a few others in the company of other SBers at South Loop Binny's.

Just returned from helping a buddy move, today. I got Sooners and Aggies on the radio, big fire in the outdoor fireplace, and laying down in the chaise with a fat pour of VG "Fox" in my glass. There may be a nap in my near future.... If you're passing by, help yourself to the bar, throw logs on the fire, and wake me at 8 for Bama and LSU... :)

Having a nice pour of Fighting Cock while watching South Carolina and Arkansas. Game Cocks have not scored yet but the FC has.

I'm having OGD114 myself tonight, but I'm keeping the bottle close.

Enjoying a big pour of the new Handy.

I think I like the '09 a little better, but this is some mighty fine hooch.

Big Cheers to BT and Cheers to you!

Four weeks ago I broke my collarbone in a bicycle crash, and had been taking painkillers that precluded drinking alcohol. Last night I was at last able to break my bourbon fast with an ounce each of OFBB 2008, ETL, Weller SR, and JTS Brown BIB.

Started the evening with some Kenwood Liquors FR1B, High Times Cellars ETL, and finished the night with some BHOGD97 (1:1 vatting of BH and OGD 114). :)

There's been some talk about Old Fitz BIB, and Old Forester BIB on the boards lately. After tasting a few dusties at Binny's Saturday, I got the urge and decided to open a couple of bottles. Besides, I have room on my "open" shelf for a change. Now open are a 750 of Old Fitz BIB DSP 16/24, and a dimpled liter of Old Forester BIB DSP 354/414. Not doing a side by side, but a one before the other. It was a good weekend, and today was fairly decent day at work too. Cheers! Joe

2009 Mariage. Wow. I've dabbled with this bottle over the last 2 years, without being struck by anything noteworthy. Until now. Wow. What the heck is that? Dried flowers? A resinous... something.....I'm not sure, but I'm chewing it long after I finished the sip. Wow.

Wow.

Silver Select on the rocks, an excellent non-bourbon bourbon. I think iced is the best treatment, somehow its best qualities come out.
